It's not uncommon to have to go straight from the office to the train/car/airport, so this selection accommodates that need. An oxford striped shirtdress as a swimsuit cover-up, some more modest shorts, and more dresses than before make this a very adult vacation ensemble! ... View the Post

This is a bit more adult version of yesterday's pack, with longer shorts, an additional skirt, nicer quality sandals... but it's really all about the tote bag! ... View the Post
This book has all kinds of interesting suggestions in it! One of the things that the authors do is to take a simple garment and suggest seven different ways to wear it. Now bear in mind, some of these are not necessarily something you or I might wear, but they are thought-provoking, and that has some value, right?
I'm going to be on vacation all next week, so you're going to get a full week of "one garment - seven ways" while I'm out of touch. Thanks, as always, for being here with me!
And if anybody can offer up better translations from the French than I have provided, please let me know; I'm always happy to learn more French. ... View the Post
The ever brilliant Juhli asked what would happen if someone with a good base wardrobe (like the sunset and sky wardrobe from here) wanted to expand their wardrobe. She pondered the wisdom of using one of the "eights" like the one in blue that I did here as a basis for acquisitions.
Juhli is one really brilliant person... see the results! ... View the Post
Above illustrates EVERYTHING I wore in the month of September 2011. A pretty modest assortment, but I have a few extenuating circumstances which kept this a pretty small collection.
Foremost, I don't have a job, so I'm not getting up every morning putting on "grown-up" clothes to go out and play with the adults of the world.
I spent a great deal of time wearing gym clothes; if I knew that I wasn't going out, and that I absolutely HAD to go to the gym (uh, that's every day!), I would put on my workout clothes immediately after my shower in the morning. The other people in my (very large) building are accustomed to seeing me in these clothes.
Having stacks of sweaty gym clothes around the house every day meant ... View the Post
Way back when, Vivienne assured me that she was not always going to have a wardrobe of black, white and red garments - she fully intended, as her hair turned gray, and her skin tones softened, to transition to gray, rose, and cream.
This is how I envision than transition...
Her original wardrobe, as we pictured it here, is this:
The first thing I could picture would be a feeling of discomfort with bright red. Not every day, but just a sense that these garments were moving to the back of the closet... so they move out and a beautiful rose pink takes its place.
The strongly contrasted black and white pieces would next make way for more muted items...
Black garments worn near the face would gradually give way to more ... View the Post
One of the stranger joys of keeping a laptop for a REALLY long time is that you stumble across files that you completely forgot existed. To wit, I found my old travel planning file from 2003/2004! And thus I can tell you with a great deal of certainty what I wore on a combination business and leisure trip I took to Copenhagen and Berlin in late August and early September 2004. What a blast from my wardrobe past it was to find this.
As with all business trips I take, I grew to roundly detest all of these clothes by the time I got home. But this trip required only a carry-on bag, and I always consider that a success! ... View the Post
You may have noticed that wardrobes are appearing here are NOT in the order in which they were requested. I work on almost all the wardrobes simultaneously (yes, my hard drive hates me), and I post them as I finish them. Your wardrobe request has NOT been forgotten; some are just more difficult than others.Don't hesitate to post a comment with a specific wardrobe request. I will do my very best to choose beautiful things for you... ... View the Post
