Packing for Ireland…
Over at my favorite other blog - A Femme d'un Certain Age.
If there's anything I know about, it's how to dress in Ireland! If you're going next week, you'll want to lighten this assortment up a little bit. But if you're going to be in Ireland in the autumn, which is UTTERLY beautiful, expect sunshine, rain, wind, and to be cold most of the time...
On a different note - does anybody have a favorite scarf, piece of jewelry, garment, etc. around which you would like to see some outfits suggested?
Or, how about a favorite painting???

Blouse with matching trousers, worn as a jacket over a striped or a solid tee shirt:
I'll be away for a few days at a family celebration, so I won't be posting, or responding to comments and emails. Rest assured, I'll be back here Tuesday late morning, after my ridiculously early work shift!
love, Janice

Build a Capsule Wardrobe by Starting with a scarf: Hermès Passementerie in camel & grey
We've been chatting a lot about camel and grey together, and this scarf was the perfect opportunity to introduce a couple of outfits with those colors. Toss in a bit of soft blue, a little bit of yellow, and a dash of coral... What a great scarf upon which to build some looks! ... View the Post
my wardrobe: some pattern & texture with my black
These are the eight winter garments that I've chosen to keep, which I wear in order to leverage the all-black core items already chosen to survive the wardrobe purge (you didn't really think that I wear unrelieved black every day, did you?)
First I show my additions to my edited wardrobe, and then below, I show all of the items that have been specifically chosen (so far) to stay, through the first four stages of the curating and distilling process.
Yes, I really love argyle... ... View the Post
Build a Capsule Wardrobe Starting with a scarf: Hermès Egypte in bright green
I received a question about what could be worn with a specific Hermes scarf - one with a lot of brown, beige and camel tones in the center, and a bright green border. My suggestions include all of the shades of brown, gold, white, and navy, which is always so nice with bright green...
And a lot of these clothes come from J. Crew. I've been spending a LOT of time lately in the local J. Crew store, gift shopping, and I've found that they stock a large number of nice-quality basic garments. Maybe not to your taste, or your budget, but certainly they are good "thought-starters".

A Travel Capsule Wardrobe: Packing in taupe & blue
This is the last of the cardigan-based travel wardrobes that started with last week's "Flying in Cardigans". This assortment is ideal for a short business trip which combines dressy and more casual activities. I apologize for my currently messed-up schedule, I'm going to have to rely on your imaginations to build all of the possible combinations yourself! ... View the Post
A Travel Capsule Wardrobe based upon a cardigan
A lot of people were very intrigued by my absolute addiction to flying in an argyle cardigan - I got lots of emails asking for variations on the patterned cardigan theme for travel.
My travel policies:
no jeans, no sweatpants, no pajamas, no yoga pants. I don't find jeans comfortable for sitting for hours. You have to remember, when flying from the US to Europe, that you may be wearing the same outfit for the entire day of your arrival. I don't like to spend my first day in Paris wandering about in pajama pants, no matter how comfortable they were on the plane. It's not like I'm going to sleep that much on the plane anyway... Small earrings, so I can lean on things and rest during the flight, without worrying ... View the Post
Wardrobe: Warm Colors, Casual Styles
Lots of people really liked my post about a "Chanel-inspired" wardrobe based on 2 suits, but expressed concern because they found it too dressy. So I've tried here to work from the same general idea - four garment groupings in 2 neutral shades, and then build around them for a 24-piece wardrobe. This is primarily a very casual wardrobe, with only one skirt, and one dressy blouse. There are some flowers, and some lace, and the obligatory Spring 2012 pair of "fashion color" pants... Enjoy! ...
