Weekly Timeless Wardrobe #28 – A Dark Neutral Long-Sleeved Tee Shirt

I'm a big fan of long-sleeved black tee shirts, as I learned just today as we were moving... There's nothing like having a couple of young men pile ALL OF YOUR CLOTHING in front of you to make you swear off of shopping for at least a week or two!

But these come in handy in all kinds of ways - warmth, a dark background for jewelry or a scarf, a sobering touch with a lively sweater...

If you're not a fan of black, maybe charcoal heather is more your speed!

This is very much the same outfit as last week, with a different tee shirt, earrings that match, and boots that do pretty much ALL of the work... holy handbags of Buddha, those are some boots!

Weekly Timeless Wardrobe #27 – A Long-Sleeved Tee Shirt

The weather here isn't entirely on board, but I'm READY for cooler weather! We are changing apartments this week (yes, we probably will stretch the project out to last multiple days!) and I'm going to take advantage of this to re-organize my closet for autumn...

This first outfit is nice and cozy, but our heroine kept her summer earrings... We do what we must to survive the winter!

This week's garment is the simplest thing imaginable - something in your lightest neutral color (which doesn't HAVE to be light at all...) and long-sleeved. Weekly Timeless Wardrobe #4 – Accent Color or Print Tee Shirt

Ah, if I were assembling a wardrobe from scratch, this would be when I start grabbing striped tee shirts - you don't even want to THINK about how often I wear a black and white shirt...

But I couldn't find a print that really blew my hair back, so I went with a favorite color of many of us, just to see how well it would work in a range of outfits. For starters, it looks pretty cool with olive green:

Note that I tried to keep quite a few items from last week, just to see how versatile our accent color might be. Generally it worked pretty well!

April 2021 – Six Scarves, 12 Months, 12 Outfits

What rudeness on the part of Mother Nature - we will need our parkas today to go outside!

But we carry on with our Starting From Scratch building of 6 wardrobes - this months we're stocking up on tee shirts, and adding in a few accessories too! This exercise has made it really clear what additional pieces are needed in some places... It's interesting (at least to me!)...

These wardrobes were all somewhat out of balance in that they didn't have enough tops, so we're adding a few! Plus a pretty necklace and a simple, almost neutral scarf:

Weekly Timeless Wardrobe #3 – Accent Color Tee Shirt

I couldn't choose which color, so I included two!

just for reference, here's the master list of 52 garments for 52 weeks of the year:

Back in the dark years of my retail career, there was a rule of thumb that if you didn't know what accent color to suggest to someone, you should try:

(1) the color of their lipstick (this was back in the days when a department store would actually HAVE a range of such colors),

(2) the color of their blush (ditto),

(3) some shade of coral - from quite close to pink to quite close to orange, or

(4) turquoise - anything from almost green to almost pure blue.

Hurrah! I love these posts...

And I've been really disciplined about NOT showing you yet another black tee shirt. While in my world, a stack of black tee shirts is a necessity - almost as important as coffee! - I know that for many of you, black is anathema...

So let's go olive!

Ah, the Ides of March mean that Spring is almost here, and that means that we can revisit the Weekly Timeless Wardrobe, starting with Spring!

Of course, you can easily wear a tee shirt this time of year, with something over it, but we're going to look at a few different ideas for why this tee shirt never needs to be put in storage...

Need an Accent Color to Get Through the Rest of the Winter?

This post is partly for me - I'm hankering for something in a different color than my usual!

I've got to be really careful not to buy something without a LOT of thought; my wardrobe has been 95+% black and white for decades, so busting out with a blue scarf and tee shirt would be a MAJOR change...

But I see that my favorite tee shirt is available in quite a few colors; what might I do?

More pink is always a possibility; I know that I love pink, and it goes well with all my black and white:

I love the way these 5 things look together, but I'm not sure that coral is a direction I should go...

There were years in which I just found the 6 most fun outfits every month, and watched the wardrobes either work or struggle. Why do I do these posts all the time? Well, I think they're pretty, and I think that when you scroll through them and find your eye (and maybe your heart) caught by something, you might be able to learn something about your tastes and preferences...

To me, a scarf is the quintessence of your style. It's a distillation of the colors that you like, as well as the overall kind of patterns or prints or images that delight you...

Revisiting the Triple Top Secret

Watching lots of people wandering about with backpacks, this last weekend, I was wondering what everybody was carrying! I know, water bottles, spare phone batteries etc. but I wondered if they had any clothes with them...

And that got me to thinking about what you want to have handy if you're going to be out for a LONG day. Say you start out with breakfast and sight seeing early in the morning. You're going into areas that are air conditioned, and the weather might turn flat-out cool later in the evening. What to do?
