January 17, 2014 Let me explain a bit of the "step by step" of how I would envision the use of a scarf as a unifying theme within a wardrobe. Starting with July - let's say you've decided that you want to get an entire new outfit in July, and you want to exercise the discipline implied by using a single scarf as your inspiration. You're working with four colors, and an overall sensibility and aesthetic of right angles, with woven textures. July = hot, in the Northern Hemisphere. But it also means work for many of us, so a dress is the plan. You spot something solid red, in the world's most forgiving silhouette, so that choice is pretty straightforward. But you don't want to add on red accessories; ... View the Post

Wearing a Classic Burberry Scarf All Year: January through June
January 16, 2014 These scarves are wildly popular, and I've been asked a couple of times if someone who loved them could use these colors as the basis of an entire wardrobe. Camel, black, white, with accents of red? What a wonderful idea... Are we tired of seeing scarves, or art? I get lots of specific requests, but I've had one rather strongly-worded objection to these posts. Since I write for you all, let me know what you think.
I thought that by the time warm weather rolls around, you're not going to wear the scarf all that often, but there's no reason to forego a touch of the traditional plaid on your tee shirt...

Wearing Hermes Les Clef Silk Scarf All Year – January through June
January 4, 2014 I was recently asked if it was possible to wear this scarf all year 'round. (the scarf is Hermes Les Clefs - the keys - and it's only available second-hand) This scarf is particularly versatile, because in addition to black and white, you can wear this with camel, gold, or yellow. Camel suits the cooler weather very nicely:
Brighter yellow is perfect for spring - and gold is ideal for dressy activities...
Even when it gets warm, this scarf would make a great belt!
The rest of the year will be here on Monday - have a great weekend! love, Janice ... View the Post

How to Pack for a Long Weekend: Navy and Camel
November 22, 2013 A classic cabled cardigan is always a good starting-point for this travel outfit. After I tossed in a striped top, I thought that a solid scarf with a little bit of embellishment might be a calming touch. This scarf is one of those things that you could wear forever... and if you want jewelry made of genuine stones that don't break the bank, take a look at Novica. You know that these aren't investment-grade gems, but they aren't glass or synthetic, and the unique designs are delightful.

How to wear a camel v-neck sweater
March 20, 2013
I never wear camel, because it's wicked unflattering on me, but I love the look of it...At it's simplest, the sweater with jeans or twill pants. A scarf, and some pretty earrings, and you're good to go. Note that the shades of camel don't have to match exactly.
Sweater – Uniqlo, rose quartz earrings – Glacier Jewellery, scarf – Scotch & Soda, jeans – Ralph Lauren, boots – Stuart Weitzman, earrings – Gabrielle Vallarino, scarf – futabaya, khakis – Vince, ballet flats - Repetto A long line of camel and brown, with a simple white or cream shirt, is the easiest outfit in the world. Simple gold jewelry is all you need; a watch might be enough!

Packing: Camel, grey, & scarves
I get a LOT of questions about what to wear with specific scarves. It's really easy to walk into a store (not necessarily Hermes!), fall into temporary insanity over a scarf, and take it home... where it languishes unworn and unloved. These kinds of questions are among my favorites; I'm a long-time believer that nothing can elevate the look of simple clothes like some "silk jewelry." And I'm growing very infatuated with camel & grey...

Someone asked "Why all the focus on Pantone colors?"
Well, for no reason that I understand, Pantone is the organization making color "recommendations" twice a year which seem to be heeded by a wide variety of businesses. Housewares, bedding, clothing - all sorts of things will be manufactured in these colors in the next 2 years.
From our perspective, if one of these colors is a favorite, this is the time to start looking for it to appear in stores!
If you are interested in seeing more, you can find the latest Pantone Color Planner and other documents in the Planning Documents section of the website.
