Part 2 - Do You Need Accents? Or Neutrals? 6 Paintings, 12 Months April 2024

Part 2 – Do You Need Accents? Or Neutrals? 6 Paintings, 12 Months April 2024

April 5, 2024

The second half - I hope you like them as much as you did the first three wardrobes!

First is this subtle, somewhat muted painting...

At the end of March, our heroine didn't have much for olive in her wardrobe! This is excusable though, because she had had some good luck finding the camel that's so predominant in this painting. Sometimes, you add what you an find to your wardrobe, and wait for other things to become available...

So she shopped mostly for green:

Just these three new green garments bring a new balance to her wardrobe, with almost equal distribution among beige, green and black. If she ever runs into a lode of rust, she's going to go a wee bit nuts!

She's quite excited by the ... View the Post

How Can I Wear My New Scarf Elizabeth Olwen Scarf by Echo

How Can I Wear My New Scarf? Elizabeth Olwen Scarf by Echo

March 11, 2024

Sometimes, you just know that you want a scarf! (and I suspect that this one will sell our really quickly!)

Such a great design! Lovely colors! Brown and ivory neutrals...

Let's work our way through some accent color possibilities... Starting with red! This scarf would be a nice touch as a belt? Or over the striped top - why not?

Imagine this scarf around your head, or on the handle of your bag, on a hot day...

Maybe you need something to brighten the world up a bit on a cool day...

Feel like your simple blue and bone outfit needs a spark?

Casual and simple doesn't have to be boring:

Maybe you just want to stick with a simple brown and ecru outfit, and put the emphasis on ... View the Post

Sudden Weather Change Start with a Scarf - Ludovica Serafini & Roberto Palomba Scarf by Echo 100

Sudden Weather Change? Start with a Scarf – Ludovica Serafini & Roberto Palomba Scarf by Echo 100

A new Echo 100 scarf!

We're Still Going to Go... Even though the temperature has dropped about 40 degrees Fahrenheit...

She's sort of caught off guard, for only for a moment! She will start with her new scarf:

While her scarf doesn't actually INCLUDE brown, she feels like it's a comfortable addition to the palette - the brown of the animals, the brown of the tree trunks...

And since they're going to be indoors for most of the time, she's comfortable packing ivory pants!

Her "thrown together" wardrobe looks pretty good!

Since she packed at SUCH the last minute, she decides that she wants to see lots of outfits...

She could have packed brown pants. Or a red sweater. But she was sticking to ... View the Post

March 2024 “Six Paintings, Twelve Months” – Part 1

March 2024 “Six Paintings, Twelve Months” – Part 1

March 1, 2024

Even with the extra day yesterday, I'm still not quite sure that I'm ready for March. But she will arrive regardless of my degree of preparation, right?

After a 50 degree overnight temperature drop, I'm not sure what season we're in, nor what to wear on any given day...

But let's look at art, and the wardrobes intrepid heroines assemble based upon their favorite colors and paintings!

So restful, calm and classic. I could walk for hours down this lane...

At the end of February, our heroine has this 12-piece capsule wardrobe:

As she's thinking about what to add, the burgeoning spring warmth suggests to her that maybe some green would be pretty!

Still a couple of sweaters - warmth doesn't ... View the Post

Want a Warm, Simple Spring Wardrobe Start with Art - Labor by Norbert Schwontkowski

Want a Warm, Simple Spring Wardrobe? Start with Art – Labor by Norbert Schwontkowski

February 23, 2024 This Year, She Wants to Keep Things Simple... Simple, like this:

She doesn't want too many things. She doesn't want lots of flowers or stripes or novelty prints. She wants calm...

Her colors are going to be drawn from this painting - she's going to use the wee table legs as her excuse to include some brown in her Spring wardrobe!

She starts with rose... this is really what caught her eye first, when she found "her" painting.... that rose wall!

Next, she finds her beige things. They're not all the same color, and that's just fine. Beige is nice that way...

Knowing that Spring isn't always warm, she feels drawn to the idea of including some brown in her wardrobe...

And last, she wants ... View the Post

Feeling Colorful Start with a Scarf - The JJ Martin Scarf by Echo

Feeling Colorful? Start with a Scarf – The JJ Martin Scarf by Echo

February 16, 2024

It's been a few days (well, weeks...) since we've had a new Echo 100 scarf - but the new ones are well worth the wait!

This scarf - endless, ENDLESS possibilities:

One could choose any colors from this to include in a palette - brown and red? beige and orchid? It took me a couple of minutes to settle into what I wanted...

My choice - this time! - was to select a variety of accent colors, one soft, one bright and warm, one bright and cool, as well as the three most obvious neutrals of brown, beige and white:

If our heroine is yet another among you who is travel in the Spring (and BOY are there a lot of you planning to run about in March and April!), I'm assuming that she will want to travel in dark ... View the Post

February 2024 “Six Paintings, Twelve Months” – Part 1

February 2024 “Six Paintings, Twelve Months” – Part 1

February 2, 2024

I'm always so excited to look at these wardrobes again!

This month, I'm going to clearly establish what has been my method so far - four garments and three accessories. With adding 4 garments each month, coupled with the 4 garments that each heroine started with, we're going to finish the year with 52 garments - sort of like the Weekly Timeless Wardrobe!

It's interesting how these numbers recur...

I understand that a lot of us aren't going to want a 52-piece wardrobe; for many of us, that seems too few, and for some it's going to be too many! But it's nice to have a target in mind, if situations change and we have to reconfigure everything.

Let's go!

In January, our heroine found herself with eight ... View the Post

Is Your Wardrobe Mostly Neutrals Start with a Scarf - Echo Scarf by Amy & John Wickersham

Is Your Wardrobe Mostly Neutrals? Start with a Scarf – Echo Scarf by Amy & John Wickersham

January 22, 2024

The first thing I thought when I saw this scarf (after just plain thinking that it was cool and clever and very pretty!) is that it would be perfect for someone who wears a lot of neutrals, but who wants the occasional bright and colorful accent!

So when I was choosing colors, I was all over the place! But I finally settled on the three most prominent neutrals that I saw, and tossed in one accent color. I could have easily included 5 or 6 accents....

My heroine has to take a trip - relatively casual - in cold weather. She might be the poor person who is the only one corporate-wide who knows how to rewire a particular server connection, which means that she will also be WORKING in a cool ... View the Post

January 2024 “Six Paintings, Twelve Months” – Part 1

January 1, 2024

Happy New Year!

Let's go! I'm going to try - for the first few months - to be logical and methodical about building these wardrobes, rather the way an adult might go about buying clothes...

Just in case you want to look back to where we started, this will take you there!

Let's start with this most elegant painting:

Last month/week, we started this heroine out with the most basic of garments - but still enough for a couple of outfits!

Since this heroine lives where it's pretty cold, she thought that dark pants might be logical - it could snow! Maybe...

And she wanted an accent cardigan...

At this very early stage, she has an almost foolproof wardrobe; getting dressed in the dark might not ... View the Post

2 More Capsule Wardrobes: December Six Paintings – Twelve Months

December 6, 2023

Is anybody else surprised by the appeal of this next "all brown" wardrobe? I wasn't at all sure what I was getting into when I chose this painting, but I must admit that if I were to start my wardrobe from scratch (as in "I have nothing left in the world except my long-underwear pajamas and grey sweatshirt robe!"), I might do this...

Except I don't look great in brown. I don't know if that would stop me!

Let's pay this heroine one last visit...

Her wardrobe at the end of November was lovely and versatile - one could manage with just these pieces for quite a while:

But our heroine has decided to emphasize the darker shades of brown, this time of year. And she found a blazer she particularly loves!

Festive Attire in Untraditional Colors? Start with a Scarf – 3 Limited Edition Echo Scarves

November 24, 2023

Today's heroines are all going to be doing something for the upcoming winter holidays - nothing overwhelmingly dressy, just events for which they wish to look nice...

And they don't want to wear the traditional colors that everyone else will be wearing! Blending in with the crowd just doesn't suit these heroines that well!

So let's start with more lovely scarves:

Our first heroine is particularly smitten with this scarf for lots of reasons, but especially because it includes brown, which is her #1 favorite neutral!

So these are the colors that she isolates from this scarf - she could have chosen at least 3 more that I can see...

This little cluster delights her - she's got Christmas red and ... View the Post

Nature Colors! Start with a Bracelet: Sustainable Lynx by Fierce Lynx Designs

November 20, 2023

As soon as she saw these bracelets, she thought of water, and the sky, and grass, and leaves, and soil... all of the things of nature that she loves the most!

She wants a small, versatile wardrobe to pack when she visits branch facilities of her composting company... These are the perfect colors!

Their driver staff - who go around the city and pick up the full buckets of compostable materials from customers - wear green and brown. That's where she started, and she still feels at home wearing those colors...

She usually spends a day riding with one or two of the drivers and a day hanging out at the actual massive composting facility. The staff there wears WHATEVER THEY WANT - knowing they will shower ... View the Post
