A Travel Capsule Wardrobe – Packing for Paris in orange and beige
You DO understand that when we invoke the "dream meme" of Packing for Paris, we also mean "a plan for what I will purchase this spring and summer"? I know we're not all going to Paris, but it's a lovely structure around which to plan this season's carefully curated and deliberately distilled wardrobe additions...

A Travel Capsule Wardrobe – Packing in Navy, with brown accessories & warm colors
I've been receiving LOTS of questions about wearing navy clothing with brown shoes, and "warm" colors. This seems like it could be tricky, since navy is pretty much a cool color, but men have been making this combination of cool and warm work for decades, and it always looks great! My suggestions:
make sure your "navies" go together - navy can vary widely. Either buy all pieces at one time (ambitious, to be sure!), buy them from the same designer (equally ambitious), or plan to carry or wear a couple of navy items when you shop, so that you can be certain that your current garments will work with new purchases. feel free to experiment with any warm color as an accent. Travel Capsule Wardrobe: sunset and sky meets the 8 blues
The ever brilliant Juhli asked what would happen if someone with a good base wardrobe (like the sunset and sky wardrobe from here) wanted to expand their wardrobe. She pondered the wisdom of using one of the "eights" like the one in blue that I did here as a basis for acquisitions.
Juhli is one really brilliant person... see the results! ... View the Post

Wardrobe: sky, sunset and pewter
The wardrobes just keep getting harder! The request for this wardrobe was: "I am a short, graying brunette in her early 60’s woman who lives in the South (think 4 seasons with an emphasis on hot & humid but occasional snow/ice). I think Katherine Hepburn with more colors would be my inspiration. Casual, few skirts/dressy itesm, but chic. I love the colors of the sunset and sky plus silver/pewter jewelry with black, charcoal or dark jeans as the neutral."
So I focused on the colors of the sky and the sunset... enjoy!
Some cool, roomy linen pieces, a couple of dressier options, and always a sweater for colder weather...

Wardrobe: ORANGE!!!!
I really love you all. Seriously. You take time every day to read my writing, look at my work, and give me feedback and challenges. What else could I ask from total strangers?
I particularly enjoy the wardrobe requests I get. This one was AMAZINGLY difficult: "I'm a gold jewellry wearer and love to wear orange which I think always goes well with black or white depending on the season. I would love your suggestions for a core wardrobe for a femme d'un certain age."
This is my best effort - I threw some blue into the mix because I adore it with orange, black and white, and I think it keeps the whole package from going too "Halloween-y" on us. Enjoy! ... View the Post
