Divine scarf, glorious colours and gorgeous ensembles. Under your tutoring I hope everyone can see how versatile scarves are and how they can marry seperates to create classy wardrobes for every occassion. Many people out there think of Hermes scarves as rather stuffy and old lady, or Hoorray Horsey set, but I think this one shows most are simply divine and very covetable. Thankyou for another mouthwatering post.

I second the previous posters. Until I found this blog I was quite happy with my scarves and never knew that I might want an Hermes!

And I have found myself perusing sites that carry vintage Hermes scarves. This post is really exceptional. I'm sure we would all be quite happy with this wardrobe–all of it!

What great companions you have found for this scarf.
I must say I am loving the tangerine accents and the coral earrings are just gorgeous.

Janice – Thank you, thank you for creating such a beautiful wardrobe for my scarf! And it fits my casual lifestyle perfectly. So far this morning I've tracked down a pair of orange flats to begin implementing this. To anyone else who would like this scarf, it's still on the Hermes website. We're so lucky to have the talented "Vivienne", the U.S. version, creating beautiful wardrobe combination day after day to inspire us.

Greetings, I am a big fan of this blog. I have read every post since inception and I thank you for your thoughtful (and gracious) posts and replies. 2 recurring Qs if you may indulge me:

    1) Why the ardent loyalty to Hermes scarves? Are they really so much preferable to Givenchy, Versace, Pucci, etc.?

    2) I am a 27 yr old professional. Can you please demonstrate how to create a youthful wardrobe around a scarf? I have never worn one of the silk variety. I am a 'cool summer' if that helps with inspiration.

    Many thanks, D.

I just purchased this scarf as the graduation gift for my daughter (her choice as something timeless to be treasured)! However, she chose the turquoise and pink colorway. Any possibility you would consider another wardrobe for a young girl/woman?

      Dear Danielle,
I'd love to do some more work with this scarf, in different colors! But I'm having trouble finding a photograph of the scarf in your colors; could you email me a photo, to [email protected]?
      This could be so fun…
      big hug,
      Janice

I'm fairly new to your blog, coming over from Une femme d'un certain age (Tish) because I thought the fashion ensembles/packing tips et al were genius. I've always been intrigued about how to put outfits together, and you do it brilliantly. You've given me great ideas. What I'm really intrigued with is how you're "boiling down" your closet to essentials, which is key for many of us who have accumulated too much, yet we gaze in despair at the clothes we've amassed, saying, "I have nothing to wear." I love the idea of basics (but, of course, I also need to stay at the same size in order to pull that off!). Thanks for all the inspiration. You know, I live in Southern California and I feel we've all gotten 'way too "beach casual" here. When I see a woman wearing a nicely-put-together outfit, including jewelry with bag and shoes, I almost stop; startled (because you don't see it nearly enough). I'm always amazed at how well-dressed the women are in Tish's streets of Paris. Everyday women, looking incredible. We can be the same. Maybe American women look equally great in New York City, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Detroit, Dallas, Chicago, Seattle, etc., but all I know is Los Angeles, and I've never seen great style here (and I'm a native who loves my city). It's just opinion (mine!), but I think we West Coasters sacrificed style for comfort, with amazing weather and outdoor life (understandable, but some of us got a bit too sloppy in the process). Intriguing how the French women seem to effortlessly blend their wardrobes with style, beauty, comfort, function. (I bet their apartments and homes are the same! Almost sounds like interior designer Rachel Ashwell's philosophy for home decor/furnishings.)

I so agree with you. "Casual" has morphed into an "anything goes" mentality in Upstate New York where I live. Even events which were traditionally more dressy/formal have their fair share of folks who eschew a more put-together look for what they see as comfortable. But, sometimes this look screams, "I just don't care." I have become much more conscious of the way I style myself when I leave the house since following this blog and Une femme. And in doing so, I feel much better about the way I look. It's contagious. I also enjoy your blog, Vicki. Truly enjoyable.
