Wardrobe: Camel, Navy, Pastel and a LOT of pictures…

This post is going to cover a lot of bases:  I've received emails asking for a navy and camel wardrobe using pastels (specifically light blue and pink), I've had lots of questions about how many outfits can you REALLY get out of 24 items of clothing (over 100, easily), and I've had requests for showing how accessories can be worn with a variety of different ensembles.

Something to note here - once I got past the core of the two "eights" in the neutrals, I added some things that... well... not everybody would like!  Partly, I really love the plaid pants, but moreover, I wanted to show what kind of options are possible when building on a solid core.  And yes, I would wear those saddle shoes in a heartbeat!

A Travel Capsule Wardrobe – Packing more navy, with two other “warm” colors

As soon as I posted yesterday's illustrations, I received some questions about using other colors with navy. So here are two additional ways to work with the core of navy garments and brown accessories...

My next plan is to show THE SAME navy garments, only with accent clothing and accessories in cool colors. A core (a "Not so Crazy Eights") of a neutral color has a lot of potential for serving as a base for any favorite color you might want to wear!

Not so crazy eights: Camel

I know that nobody can go out and buy twenty new items of clothing, so I've been trying to think of how someone would begin the process of building a curated, distilled wardrobe.  Of course, it really has to start with some serious thinking!  But once you've chosen a core color from which to work, you could certain do worse than carefully acquiring a basis of eight garments upon which to build.  This is how I see it taking shape... ...
