A Grey Capsule Wardrobe with Flower Accents

January 15, 2015   Yes, her accessories are pink. She's the boss. She likes pink, and flowers. If she can reconcile those facts, you can too. It's 2015, and bosses wear pink...

One of the fun things about these accessories is that they combine very reasonably priced costume jewelry with absolutely ASTONISHINGLY expensive pieces. Everything doesn't have to be in the same price range, so long as it shares a style theme that resonates with your deepest preferences and loves.

A Grey Capsule Wardrobe with Grey Accessories

January 13, 2015   Monochromatic dressing seems to be an idea that meets a lot of resistance, and I'm not sure why; it's the easiest way to dress, and it can look very elegant and sleek. I think the key to keeping monochromatic outfits from looking drab is to incorporate texture or pattern into the mix to give a little bit of visual interest. With accessories this cool, no outfit is going to look dull!   This woman has grey hair, silvery eyes, a cutting wit, and a very busy agenda - if you make the mistake of thinking of her as "senior citizen", it will be a mistake you only make once!

A Grey Capsule Wardrobe with Soft Blue

January 12, 2015

Unlike last week's All-Black wardrobe, I don't know that an All-Grey ensemble is required at any place of work. So I'm thinking of this grouping as a version of the "what to wear when you don't want to get dressed" post that I did here. My suggestion was to have a core of six matching garments (which would give you at least a handful of outfit possibilities) and also to have a core of accessories that you could reach for - almost without thinking - that would pull everything together, and keep the world from realizing that you dressed yourself with your eyes (almost) closed! So my friend who wears this ensemble, and these accessories, has blonde/grey hair, gentle blue eyes, and a way about her that attracts ... A Black Wardrobe with Marsala

January 10, 2015   She used to really love red, but lately it's been feeling too bold, too "out there". So she decided to start wearing a vintage red, perfectly aged, and ideal for indulgence. Now she feels more elegant, a bit more earthy, and somewhat intoxicating...

A Black Wardrobe with Bright Colors

January 9, 2015

She never seems to stop moving, and everybody in the room can hear her laughing. But nobody minds...

Mixing colors might not be everybody's cup of tea, but for the right person it is indeed a personal statement!

A Black Wardrobe with Amethyst

January 8, 2015   She was born in February, so amethyst is her birthstone. And purple has always been her favorite color; could any style choice be easier?

Any other suggestions/ideas for how to accessorize this wardrobe? I'm working on blue, and on brights, but I was also thinking of brown/gold... Anything else your beautiful hearts desire?   love,

A Black Wardrobe with Soft Green and Verdigris

January 7, 2015   She's blonde, so she's not always mad about wearing black, but she has green eyes... and so she's found a way to make it work.

A Black Wardrobe, with Pink, and Roses, and Softness

January 6, 2015   She know that wearing black makes her look hard, but in reality she's a romantic with soft curling hair and a gentle way about her that makes everyone want to give her a hug...

A Black Wardrobe, with Silver, Aluminum and Grit

January 5, 2015   This is certainly not a style for just everyone, but I know a couple of women who wear this very urban, industrial style, and who carry it off with great panache! (Imagine a woman with silver grey hair, cut in a very short, angular style. Chiseled cheekbones, a slash of red lipstick...)   One of the things that we have to remember about a unique personal style is that it is, by definition, not for everybody. Realistically, it shouldn't be for ANYBODY other than you. It's hard to chart your own path, style-wise, but feeling quintessentially like yourself can be an amazing sensation...

I Love It But Will I Wear it? Ruby and Amethyst Jewelry

December 13, 2014

It can happen to any of us - you wake up in the maturity of your life to find that you own a piece or two of really REAL jewelry - the kind of stuff that requires a special mention on your home owner's insurance. The kind of stuff that could be flogged in an auction, or pawned in a moment of spite. But instead, you decide that this stuff is really quite beautiful, and you'd like to wear it more often. Much the wisest course, I'd say.   Before you get carried away, however, let's address a couple of serious (and frivolous) essentials:

Make ABSOLUTELY sure that your goodies are insured. Ask a lot of questions about deductibles, conditions of when and where you were when the item might ... View the Post

Assorted Accessories for All Seasons

December 5, 2014   These posts about seasonal colors are so much fun, and I learn something every time I work on one! Today, I started with an Hermes scarf, and then built an assortment of things around the scarf. Some of the accessories are for winter wear, and other are for the entire year.   I only wear 1 watch, but I'm not sure why - there are a lot of beautiful, moderately priced watches available that might add a touch of color or metallic luster to an outfit. While I know that in this day and age many people don't wear a watch at all, maybe a 2nd watch is an option to consider...

Jewelry for All Seasons

December 3, 2014

I've never been closely aligned to my designation as a Winter; I pretty much already knew that I was going to wear a lot of black and white, so learning that I was a Winter didn't change anything for me. However, I know many people who are quite fond of using their "seasonal" designation as a guideline for shopping. So since I knew I was going to show you lots more jewelry today, I thought I'd take advantage of the seasonal designations as a different way to choose some pretty things for you to see...

What riches our lives hold, eh? love, Janice
