Build a Capsule Wardrobe by Starting With… a Plate? A Great Blue, Green and Beige Idea!

One of the best questions I’ve ever received…  One of my friends really loves this plate, and wondered if it would be a good basis upon which to choose clothes.  Heck, if you can use a painting, you can surely use a beautiful piece of pottery…  Look for beautiful shades of blue and green, with beautiful soft white (or brown) neutrals…

Plate – Anthropologie, tee shirt – Replay, chambray shorts – Monsoon, sunhat –  Missoni, sandals – Emu, tee shirt – Uniqlo, belt – Uniqlo, pleated shorts –  Mango, sandals – Fabrizio Chini

I thought you were going to slow down! Each of your posts this week has been extraordinary. Each of them could have been divided into two or even three parts. Thank you for these beautiful ideas, but spread out your goodies and make life a little easier for yourself!

I love those shades of blue and with the white it really makes them pop. They make me feel like spring is around the corner 🙂 Lovely!

    Dear Vivienne,

Your blog posts aren't picked up by my Feedly rss feeder anymore. The last post I got was We Need To Talk.

I tried unsubscribing and re subscribing with no luck.

Have you had other reports of problems, or have any ideas if what might be wrong?

I've contacted Feedly… we shall see if they respond! I can't get it to refresh on my feeds either, but I've seen other questions on the Feedly website about the same issue. So sorry – it drives me crazy!

I have had the same problem with my bloglovin feed, and at the exact same time. Not wanting to go without my Vivienne Files fix, I pinned the homepage to my toolbar.

I MAY have fixed it, but I'm far from sure. I was getting blocked because my site is too content rich! Gotta love that, eh?

I had the same problem but came back to the home site, clicked on the current post and lo and behold she was back on blogger. Makes you question the whole business, doesn't it. Anyway, so glad it is working again. Great post, love these colors and combinations. Thanks.

Janice, you inspire me! You are teaching us that you can start with anything we are drawn to from a scarf to art to a plate or anything else we love. The world is so full of beauty!

Thank you for the interesting color combinations! It took me back to a look I saw many years ago, and still love, using olive green and red.

I am so inspired with all your mix of separates! I can get many ideas from your posts. Thank you.
BUT…..I stop with the shoes. For being so fashion forward, I question your choice of shoes sometimes. As I said, I love your choice of separates that you put together but do not like at times your choice of shoes. They seem so matronly.

Really? I, for one, am glad there's at least one blog that doesn't shove high heels and platform shoes down my throat.

This colour combo is so beautiful Janice – thanks for the inspiration. My wardrobe revolves around navy so I love any combos that include navy! I personally love your shoe choices as I am a stay at home mum and the flats you choose are perfect for my lifestyle.

    THANK YOU!!!
Janice, I was on a buying trip in England when I got notification that you had built a wardrobe around my plate and I couldn't wait to get home and print it off (which I'm doing right now!). It's so beautiful and you nailed the colors, outfits and accessories, including the shoes. 🙂
I truly appreciate your talents and can't believe how lucky we are that you share them with us on a regular basis. Thanks again, Theresa
