Preparing for Spring: Start with a Bracelet – Voyage to Santorini by Fierce Lynx Designs

January 29, 2024

It’s certainly not Spring yet (in the Northern Hemisphere!), but that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t start planning…

bracelets – Fierce Lynx Designs

Our heroine is going to travel at least once this spring, for long weekends to destinations that might be warm, and that might be cool-ish… That’s sort of the charm of spring, isn’t it?

Voyage to Santorini Bracelets – Fierce Lynx Designs

So while you could certainly plan a glorious summer travel wardrobe around these color (turquoise and white for DAYS…), you can also enjoy the feel of the colors in clothes that aren’t all linen, cut for 30 degrees Celsius…

Yellow sweater – L.L.Bean; earrings – Talbots; wanderlust silk scarf – Echo; navy twill pants – J.Crew; bracelet – Talbots; raincoat – L.L.Bean; weekender tote – J.Crew; navy loafer – Munro

So our heroine is sensible – a fun striped top, but with sleeves, and a snappy striped sweater…

A dress (that comes in a stack of colors!) that just screams “sunny day,” and a sleeveless top that can be worn under a sweater or on its own, if the weather treats our heroine well…

Triangle earrings- Lala Salama; silver hoop earrings – The Gala; blue onyx necklace – Rodela; sapphire necklace – Latelita; bracelets – Fierce Lynx Designs; cardigan blazer – Lands’ End; white sleeveless shirt – Lands’ End; striped top – L.L.Bean; butterscotch dress – Masai Copenhagen; striped sweater – GAP; white jeans – J.Crew; crossbody bag – Sea & Grass; white sandals – Franco Sarto; leather sneakers – Toms

This wardrobe would certainly be an excellent starting point for a larger summer wardrobe for a REAL trip to Greece!

Our heroine packs, knowing that she may have to wear sweaters and pants all weekend, or that she may wear her dress and her sleeveless top more than expected!

Nobody ever died from wearing the same outfit twice in three days…

love,

Janice

p.s. Ten years ago, I was on my way to Paris, and dreaming of what I’d be doing there….

It’s perfect! The palette is simple and fresh, but this shade of yellow, almost mustard, seems more sophistcated!

I love this wardrobe. It would be perfect for our trip to Crete this spring as well.
I just wish they would insert bust darts in these dresses to accomodate larger sized busts.

Hear, hear. We see the likes of Helen Mirren, Judi Dench in beautiful outfits extolling the ‘older woman’ but down on the ground it doesn’t seem to have got through! In addition, I am English in France and it seems we have completely different body shapes whatever our age. Very luckily I can sew and haven’t bought a dress for many, many years but it would be lovely to be able to buy some clothes for a change.

I am envious of your trip to Crete, Greece is just so beautiful but due to my husband’s health problems, I doubt very much if I shall see it again. Enjoy and have an ouzo or retsina for me!

        Hello Julia,

Thank you, I hope your husband will get better. We will enjoy ourselves. Jámas

Wow – love it! The bracelet is absolutely gorgeous and inspiring for sure. I love the dress… most linen is cut so “yang” but the bit of ruffle on this one brings some “yin” to it. Absolutely love it!

Love this bracelet and colors except for the gold/yellow/mustard. I haven’t found a shade of this color that works for me. Instead I would substitute the gray marbling in the beads for the gold. Beautiful combinations, as always, Janice!

I can’t wear mustard near my face but I love how it works with blues (my wardrobe has quite a bit of blue) so I tried a mustard skirt and a mustard purse. I wore/used them frequently and loved the change of pace. I was surprised by how many items worked with that one skirt.

Wendy, that’s been my experience with my wool camel skirt. I don’t wear camel near my face, but the skirt goes with many different-colored tops.

Everything but the dress, which ticks several “no” boxes for me. Fierce Lynx has introduced several lovely bracelets recently. Makes me wish I wore the colors just so I could buy the bracelet!

I’m sort of overwhelmed by how many bracelets I want to buy right now… She’s really outdoing herself this winter!

Aw, you ladies are making me blush! Time and time again I am blown away by the gorgeous wardrobes Janice creates with the colour palettes from my bracelets. It almost makes me want to leave the house more often so I can justify buying more clothes. (But then I remember it’s winter in Atlatic Canada so I snuggle deeper into my sweats and play with more gemstones.)

Thank you for these good ideas! I am trying to work out a capsule based on the Romeo Gigli Echo scarf I bought a few weeks ago from your wardrobes featuring Echo. Todays suggestions have some of these same colors: various blues and white, but instead of yellow, I have light khaki and brown/russet in mind. I’ve learned a great deal about putting things together from you, Janice, but most of all, I’ve learned how much fun it is to get dressed in the morning, and also that packing is like putting the pieces of a beautiful puzzle together!

Ooh light khaki and russet…you’re talking my language! Thanks for the suggestion, vb from nc. And yes, packing is exactly like that for me :-)

Julie, have you found anything in a russet color lately? I bought 2 russettish shirts, well, a shirt and a t shirt, from Land’s End a few years ago, still wear ‘em, but lately, have found just Nuthin’!! in that color! Would love a sweater…..

Like this capsule but with my coloring, I’d substitute coral for the yellow items and it would work beautifully. I am leery of wearing white jeans while traveling. No matter now much I scotch Guard them, I’m still likely to spill something. Perhaps a quick dry pant in the same color? Jeans take days to dry … and there goes the capsule.
It’s been years since I’ve been to Greece. Dryers were not available then. Are they now?

I love these colors!! I don’t look good with the mustard yellow near my face, but I have a couple of cardigans and a bit in a scarf and they look amazing with navy! I always get compliments. Fortunately my daughter’s college, the school I teach at and the high school my kids go to all have mustard/gold and navy/blue as their colors, so I happily wear these combo’s to games and events so I can support our schools! The only think I would do is probably switch the white pants for blue jeans.

Well, I bought the bracelet, the first time I have bought anything from this source. These colors are in my wheelhouse, except for the yellow, which I will likely replace with something else. But really, I can make do with the different blues and the white for the summer. My two favorite colors for summer!

You won’t be disappointed. I own enough of her bracelets to outfit a large number of my neighbors, and my building is 55 stories tall…

I love these colors together so much! You may have finally found the shade of yellow I’ve been looking for. I used to have a “gold” (to me) silk crinkle skirt in this same shade that I wore constantly and went with everything in my closet. Since I never thought of it as yellow, it just never occurred to me to look for that color in the yellows on a website. I absolutely adore the linen dress and only wish that it came in my size, but today I’m just happy for the inspiration!

    Janice,
On a totally different topic — I am trying to refind your post showing 3 dark bottoms — one was a velvet pant , one was probably a dark jean, and maybe the other pair was a dark dress pant, all probably black, but not sure. It’s driving me nuts ! I don’t know if I saw it on a recent post or while scrolling through Pinterest and your posts there . I do recall the mention of the velvet pant though, maybe even a velvet jean ? I think it may have been a travel packing post . One of the reader’s commented suggestions was to also include a lighter colored bottom. Do you recall it ? Thanks !

I might have found it ! October 9, 2019, when you were packing for Ireland . Might that have been a recent retrospective ?

Man you’re good – you got there before I did! But the 3 pants – jeans, velvet jeans, black ponte knit – theme is a favorite for me. I feel like it gives me a wide range of possibilities – pretty much anything short of a “must wear a dress” event…

Velvet jeans would be from either Eileen Fisher or Lands’ End – I have black ones from Lands’ End, and cassis (!!!) ones from Eileen Fisher.

      Maybe this post?

Yep, that’s it, thanks !!! Which were you preferring, a packing envelope or a packing cube for the shirts and tops ? I have both and have trouble deciding as the envelopes tend to be heavier than the cubes , even when the very lightweight outer material is used and when including the suggested packing board with the envelope . I’m inclined to using one of my deeper light weight cubes .

      • Janice says

        January 29, 2024 at 4:46 pm

If you can fit them in a cube, definitely use it. If you absolutely MUST have the board with you (are you going to fold things on the way home?) then use the cube. I’ve actually only used cubes the last few times I traveled…
        hugs,
        Janice

I just went ahhh… when I saw the bracelet.
Those colours are so summer for me. I would wear the turquoise & white with the yellow of sands. For the months of January & February this year I am making sure I wear yellow (sand) each day (Sometimes it is too hot so I wear a light dress). I have lots of singlet tops, short-sleeved polo tops & t-shirts in yellow. I have lots of different blues (over shirts & shorts) to wear with them.
