Do You Love a Colorful Wardrobe? Start with a Scarf – Echo 100 Scarf by Nuno Da Costa

January 26, 2024

If you love love, and bright colors, here you go!

scarf – Echo

So many possibilities, but I’m going to start with simple black and white pieces, and then add a wee rainbow of accents!

scarf – Echo

Nope, you do NOT look like a bumblebee…

White cardigan – L.L.Bean; heart earrings – Shymi; beeswax tee – L.L.Bean; scarf – Echo; black linen pants – Lands’ End; rainbow watch – Coach; weekender bag – Kate Spade; sneakers – Converse

Maybe you’re not up to wearing ALL the green accessories, but maybe you are!

Green sweater – Mango; earrings – Argento Bella; scarf – Echo; white linen pants – Lands’ End; tote bag – Calpak; platform sneakers – Kate Spade

What could be cheerier on a cool day than some beautiful blue, and some bright hearts?

Blue sweater – L.L.Bean; earrings – 1928; scarf – Echo; black knit cords – L.L.Bean; socks – Sockfun; loafers – LifeStride

Ah, purple…

Purple top – L.L.Bean; earrings – Bling Jewelry; scarf – Echo; white linen pants – J.Crew; bag – Campo Marzio Roma 1933; espadrilles – Journee Collection

Red is classic for Valentine’s Day, but it’s also flatters many of us every day…

Red cardigan – Lands’ End; earrings – Pandora; scarf – Echo; white jeans – J.Crew; bag – Pinko; loafers – Steve Madden

Romantic and pretty in pink, but with a relaxed and cool silhouette:

Hot pink linen tunic – Lands’ End; earrings – Shymi; bracelet – Crystals and Co; scarf – Echo; cropped pants – Caslon; sandals – French Sole

It would be hard to go wrong giving this scarf as a gift, or treating yourself! It’s classic, but with a bright charge of colors that feels energetic and very modern…

love,

Janice

p.s. Five years ago, one of you was heading off to England and Scotland with TWELVE friends... I show THREE travel wardrobes…

    Good morning,
What joy to see these colors. Very nice outfits.
Yesterday I happened to have a green bag, shoes, cardigan with a patterned scarf on.

I’m looking for my white pants now…

You hit it almost 100% for me – with the exception of the pink which looks like a grapefruit color on my screen. I do wear all green accessories though last weekend changed out the green purse I”ve been using for quite awhile now to a periwinkle blue one. I had to laugh at all the popcorn I found in the bottom of the green one from my movie forays……Wishing everyone a great weekend.

What a pretty scarf and heart-shaped accessories to wear for Valentine’s Day. Beats all the red that is around. No guesses that blue, pink and purple would be my choice. I’ll have to see what heart-shaped jewellery I can find.

Thank you for the packing look-back. I have packed a navy and pink wardrobe – even my summer pyjamas and dressing gown are navy with pink flowers. I also do a grey, purple and a splash of pink wardrobe. I don’t tend to wear polo necks in September because when the sun is out, it can still be quite warm. A scarf is very useful. Conversely a hat and gloves will keep you warm if its windy.

Just yesterday I read something online that said that if you don’t want to look old you should not wear bright colors, and I turned to my husband and said, “Life is TOO SHORT!!! I want to wear ALL the colors!” And then this morning I opened up your email and saw this amazing, colorful wardrobe. I’m in love with all of it, and I think I have to buy the scarf now. Thank you so much for reaffirming my commitment to colorful, beautiful clothing.

Oh BULL PUCKY. Dress the way you want to – as long as you’re happy, and decent, it’s nobody else’s concern. And what’s wrong with looking old? Where did we accept this idea that we have to try to look you for our entire lives? Maybe we’re more beautiful now than we were when we were younger, and we just don’t have the sense to see it…
      hugs,

I agree with you completely! We don’t all get the privilege of growing old, and I intend to embrace it. And I will wear all of the colors. Thank you for your lovely website. I’m a newcomer here, and I absolutely love your style.

I hate that kind of click-bait article. At this point, I just refuse to read anything that purports to tell me how not to look old/fat/short or that asserts that these 10 things are out of style so buy these 10 things instead, etc. The article you mentioned seems particularly ridiculous given that there is a category of women who actually look their very best in bright colors as their hair turns a brilliant white. So not only is the article using scare tactics around aging to motivate women to buy, the assertions don’t even make much sense. So yes, bull pucky indeed!

Is that rather ageist assumption based on the fact that ‘old’ people like Iris Apfel (102), Prue Leith (83), Zandra Rhodes (83), the late Vivienne Westwood and our late HM Queen have made a name for themselves wearing bright colours? I wish I could wear brighter colours but only suit soft, muted tones.

I’m appalled. I think that’s ridiculous viewpoint. I love seeing older women – and I now am one – dressed in beautiful colors that suit them. And for me, that means bright, saturated colors along with some neutrals.

Everyone is different, and everyone gets to wear what they want – but I actually think that as your natural color fades, you might need a little brightening up.

What a pretty scarf! And I love the outfits you put together around it, Janice. I like that each one has a lot of color, without mixing a bunch of hues in any one outfit. This is how I like to dress.

I have just today bought a 3 piece suitcase set that is a small mosaic of all these colours. Should be easy to identify when I return from my cruise and have to collect luggage from the huge allocated storage space. Just my luck if several others have the same idea. Lol

These outfits are making me wish I wore white pants! But in those outfits, I could substitute a white skirt with black tights/boots for the cold spring outfits and with bare legs for the warm spring outfits. The pink version is my least favorite; I like the tunic just fine but with the diaphanous white crops and the sandals, I’m not feeling it – but the color combo is very pretty, so with some tweaking of the pieces/silhouettes (maybe simple skinny ankle jeans + pink ballet flats), I would wear it. The yellow version is a bit of a surprise favorite! I think the combination of those high rise wide leg black pants with the black hi-tops is really fun and a bit funky. I’m not sure how the white cardigan would work for me in the outfit because on me at least, that style is a bit loose and unstructured and possibly too long to make me happy with the pants. But for a warm day, a simple partial tuck of the T and no topper would be very cute…not my own style exactly but definitely cute. (I know, I’m recommending leave off a topper layer – that’s not typical!)

I love this! Perfect batch of colors for me if I traded the black for navy. This is the echo I could see myself having. Well, besides the ones I already have. I meant this is my favorite from the 100 project!

This is one of my favorite scarves plus I love what the donation is for. The look back was great and all the comments too. I hope the friends enjoyed the trip! On another note my Fierce Lynx bracelets arrived yesterday!!! They were the crystal gray and lavender ones. Had sold out but became available again. I have small wrists and wasn’t sure how they would fit but they are perfect. I’ll keep an eye out for ones my daughter might like as she also has tiny wrists. Thank you Janice for introducing them to me.

    This post sings to me.

I’ve already ordered the hot pink linen tunic and just about convinced myself that I “need” this scarf. My basics are black, white/ivory(depending on season), navy, and gray/stone (depending on season) with pinks (blush to rose) and greenish blues (aqua to teal). I love the basic colors, but just as often I incorporate an accent.

    Thank you.

    Dear Janice,

Thank you so much for sharing this very special scarf I created with Echo New York.

So honoured and humbled that you would take the time to create all these beautiful looks.

RIP Medical Debt, the charity that I have chosen to donate to, is for a cause that is very close to my heart. Every $100 donation from each scarf sale will allow RIP Medical Debt to buy and forgive $10,000 of personal medical debt, meaning that we will be able to cancel $1M of medical debt when all 100 scarves are sold, AND there will be a host of folks out there receiving letters in the mail informing them that their medical debts have been forgiven! How beautiful!

Thank you for helping spread the word, your effort is so appreciated!
    Warmest wishes,
    Nuno x
