Wardrobe Clusters? Start with a Scarf! Three “Echo 100” Scarves

November 22, 2023

For many of us, this is the time of year when we are often called upon to be away from home for just one night – family meals, downtown activities that include a night in a nice hotel, quick work jaunts…

These kinds of trips only require the smallest little cluster of clothes – I firmly believe that we can wear the same pants two days in a row!

Let’s use 3 of the lovely new Echo scarves as our inspiration, eh?

scarf – Echo

This scarf could SO EASILY be the inspiration for an entire life-long wardrobe; heaven knows that there are plenty of men who live in navy and grey!

scarf – Echo

While I didn’t include any light blue in this wee cluster, I envision that color showing up as nicely faded denim, or a beautiful sweater, and definitely a tee shirt or blouse…

But this is what I see for our heroine:

Navy fisherman’s sweater – J.Crew; acrylic earrings – Amazon; scarf – Echo; grey sweater – J.Crew; plaid flannel shirt – L.L.Bean; grey pants – J.Crew; socks – J.Crew; tote bag – Quince; navy suede loafers – Birdies

The next scarf is mostly a stark ivory and black, but the illustrations are whimsical and easy to love:

scarf – Echo

The color scheme here is easily guessed, but it’s so nice to see how this scarf looks when tied…

I must share – you know that I ordered the Tre Seals scarf? It arrived, and it is wonderful! These scarves are excellent quality, and a good value (I know, I know) at $195. You could easily spend more than twice this much for a scarf that isn’t any lovelier… Note the contrast hem on this beauty – that’s not the easiest thing to do!

scarf – Echo

This heroine loves the easy simplicity of neutral colors…

Striped merino sweater – Alex Mill; earrings – Kendra Scott; cardigan – J.Crew; ivory silk shirt – Orvis; scarf – Echo; wool gabardine pants – Alex Mill; boots – The Flexx; tiny crossbody bag – Longchamp; socks – Stems

How about a heroine who’s still wearing summery colors, in a warm climate? It’s foreign to my personal experience right now, but we can certainly dream, right?

scarf – Echo

Our heroine selected three accent colors to work with, but there are at least twice that many here – how about that lime green border? Or the orange and yellow? This could be a warm-weather wardrobe inspiration for years…

scarf – Echo

This heroine is still wearing classic clothes, but she was feeling bold when it came to earrings, and then the handbag… well… why not?

Marina blue cotton sweater – Boden; earrings – Swarovski; pine tee – L.L.Bean; scarf – Echo; white cardigan – J.Crew Factory; bracelet – Swarovski; white linen pants – Lands’ End; pink flats – Miz Mooz; bag – French Connection

I’m looking at four more scarves for (duh duh DUHHHHHH…) Black Friday. I don’t shop, and I’m not going to throw 300 sale items at you either!

Are you shopping on Friday?

love,

Janice

p.s. Eight years ago, our heroine was inspired by a Boucheron brooch, proving once again that your wardrobe colors can be inspired by anything!

I love that third scarf, and the earrings!!! I said I wasn’t going to buy anything on Black Friday, but this is tempting…

Love love the crane scarf and the gray and blue. Would fit easily into my closet. Thank you Janice!
oh – and not shopping on Black Friday unless there’s a deal on the laptop I’ve had my eye on. Mine sorely needs replacing…..

Blue and gray…perfect! Thank you for the inspiration. I’ve already asked my hubby for a gray cashmere and cotton blend sweater from LLBean for Christmas. On Black Friday, I don’t leave my house but at 6:00 am I order things from the Amazon list. That way I’m finished and off the internet before it gets jammed.

I’d actually like to buy myself something for Black Friday, but I haven’t found anything that speaks to me. I guess I’ll just have to save my money.

I am enjoying the Echo 100 project. The denim blue/grey scarf with cranes is my favorite so far.

I love this post and that you included a warm weather capsule. Perfect for me as I live in a tropical area. I also like the first scarf as well. Navy and white are my neutrals but I am starting to add gray as a 3rd.

Fred Meyer always has a screaming deal on socks, so my mom, youngest daughter and I will hunt down a bunch of socks for my family of 6 on black Friday. And we will have coffee and enjoy our time together. I did however take advantage of sales already at JoAnn to buy the flannel I make the kids Christmas PJ pants out of so I don’t have to wait in those crazy lines on Friday!!

Absolutely love basing a wardrobe on a brooch! I wear brooches more frequently than scarves. The look back is just my style.

I adore the reef life scarf and the colours are muted versions of “my” favorites. But I will not buy a scarf that I won’t wear. And so far my colouring has not softened enough that pastels are kinder to me than brights. Sigh.

I will not be going out to shop on Black Friday, but I might scroll the internet for some of the things on my wish list. If I can remember what they are.

Oh my – the third scarf 🤩 I would definitely wear this in winter with my orchid pink or pale grey coats. The colours are delectable. Then in spring/summer, it would really come to life. I’m not sure about it’s versatility in the autumn but you could have some fun with other colours. This is a scarf for all seasons.

I love the look back too. I would use silver grey instead of white.

In the UK, we don’t have Black Friday i.e. one day of madness. Retailers are offering “Black Friday” deals throughout November.

You know, these three clusters could almost work together as a capsule wardrobe. Deciding if cream or white would be your light neutral is about the only change that would need to be made because they just don’t quite work together. But all the rest of the pieces are delightful together! I would wear them all!
