Can You Build a Travel Capsule Wardrobe Around a Piece of Jewelry?

June 21, 2017

I’m thinking that these kinds of posts could be known as “Wildly-Extravagant Wednesday…”

A Ridiculous Business Trip

She loved the ring from the moment she saw it, and now she wears it every day…

So when they told her that she had to fly to headquarters on Friday JUST TO DELIVER A FOLDER… she decided that she was going to stay through the weekend and go all-out. See an opera, do some serious dining, and people-watch…

She’s got to go straight to the office when she lands, so she’s going to fly in “grown-up” clothes. The flight’s not all that long, so this will be fine – not a lot different from sitting at her desk for the morning. (except she doesn’t have to do anything any more taxing than play Solitaire on her phone…)

Maybe she’s packing more than she needs if she’s coming back Sunday evening. She doesn’t care. And yes, she’s packing a LOT of jewelry. She wants to; it’s just that simple! She’s going to get dressed UP this weekend…

She loves the elegance of her little travel capsule wardrobe!

If her employers want to waste money sending someone to a different time zone just to do something that FedEx would do for 5% of the cost, who is she to complain?

love,
Janice

I'm with our girl. I'll take a free trip to (anywhere) Denver! Beautiful capsule. Wonderful post, as always.

It's too dress for most of us! Imagine substituting dark-wash jeans…

My first reaction to seeing the in transit outfit was "ooh". So pretty. So sophisticated. So comfy. I think I want to be this woman for a day! Actually, the whole weekend!

Yes, what a great idea to have wildly extravagant Wednesday. I have always ( since I was 16) deliberately gone into very expensive stores to savour the clothes and accessories. I find it has helped me with my sewing and bargain hunting. This is really great because you have such a mix of high and low. That Chanel bracelet is a ridiculous price…branding certainly promotes silliness sometimes.

I agree with Deb! I love the mix of high and low items and that I've "saved money" not coveting that Chanel bracelet either :) Thanks for the fun post (as always!)

I would love to see a wildly extravagant Wednesday too. LL Bean and Lands' End have great values over the full range of sizes, so I understand why they appear so often. But let's go up a price point or two once in a while, at least in our dreams.

I love this story! The whole idea just makes me smile.

P.S. I went to a farmer's market last weekend and saw all these women with their boho maxi skirts just trailing all over the ground … shudder … and thought of you, Janice!

Love these colors and the story. I have a question about scarves though. Perhaps you've seen the temperatures in the southwestern US recently? 117 degrees today for example. Is it possible to pull together a wardrobe without scarves?

Like our heroine, I'm not one to turn down the opportunity for a trip, either! What a ring! These colors are where my wardrobe is moving, although with a far more casual vibe. Now to figure out what to pack for Arizona. In July. Sometimes we have no control over trip timing…

Jewelry is the only thing that can make my wardrobe complete. Summer dresses, shoes, high heels, denim pants all are the part of this wardrobe and The Hawaiian koa wood earrings are plenty enough to make it complete.
