The first time I looked at the scarf, these were the colors that I saw. I was always envisioning this with burnished brown accessories, to reflect the beauty of the border of the scarf:
She’s a Poet
Yes, she earns her daily bread as an office manager for a real estate company. But if you ask her (that horrible American question that you hear EVERY time you meet someone) “What do you do?”, she tells you that she’s a poet…
And for her vacation this autumn, she’s flying to Manchester, New Hampshire. There’s a place in Franconia that she wants to see, and she’s going to stop by Middlebury College in Ripton, Vermont.But her destination? Robert Frost’s grave, in Bennington, Vermont.
She’s only going for 6 days, so she’s packing light, but she’s quite sure that she’ll have everything that she needs.
The place in Franconia is The Frost Place, a museum and poetry conference site. And Ripton Vermont is the site of Middlebury College, where Frost taught for 42 years…
She’s told everyone that she’s going “leaf peeping”, but her true friends know what’s up. It’s a pilgrimage, in the truest sense.
Inspiration is priceless.

Pink & yellow isn't for everyone, but having similar tones/shades/values makes it easier. The little bit of yellow showing at the collar of the pink sweater could be covered even more by the scarf if it's tied the right way. Then you would still be warm.
I'm not a yellow fan either but in this case I would go for it!

I never ever win anything and I probably don't even qualify since I'm out of the US, but my clour scheme revolves around grey and navy with liberal doses of soft pink, yellow and blue, so this called to me.
On top of that, I'm a poet… I even met my husband through my poetry!

This is a unique scarf and lovely as well. I have been looking at a lot of scarves on this trip and even at Liberty did not find one that made my heart sing. So, no scarves from this trip. Your blog has really helped my with discipline and discernment. The only changes I would make in the packing of this wardrobe is to wear the boots on the plane and pack the shoes plus add a trench coat and umbrella.

In addition to your color selections and the storytelling approach for the functions of the selections, I am clapping for joy at this illustrated format ! I am always stealthily picking your brain to obtain how your selections actually work to create outfits. In this instance, I see blocks of nine, using one same bottom as the base for each of the nine blocks. The vertical blocks show the core bottom and one of the outer layers all the same, with the top being the varied element. The horizontal blocks use the same bottom and top but vary the outer layers . It's rather like a "Clothing Sudoku " !! I love how your brain thinks —and then shares !
This is fantastic for how to pack minimally, and yet have loads of outfits ! I also love the 4×4's for longer trips.You are clearly my packing mentor par excellence !!!
On another note, could you please define the phrase I see and hear so often with regard to packing tips, where we are informed to use one "color story ". What exactly is that approach ? Thanks !
The "Whatever's Clean" with 3 outer layers, 6 tops, and 4 bottoms is also terrific for packing planning. I travel frequently for pleasure, and these formats just make my packing a joy, like a game figuring it all out, like cut out dolls with outfits when I was a kid ! Thank you, thank you !

I love the idea of walking through the world with secret poetry around my neck. Thank you so much for providing more than beautiful clothes to look at – your beautiful slice of life stories are the first thing I look for in the morning.
Please do revisit this scarf emphasizing maroon or some of the other deeper tones — this lovely piece balances strong and gentle tones in a way that looks like it would be so useful for either 'shoring up' outfits that are too ethereal OR for softening outfits that are too gutsy for one's mood or colouring.

Lovely scarf. I really like the boots and bag. They will be perfect for my fall wardrobe.
This wardrobe is right up my pastel alley and she is visiting my neck of the woods!! My one recommendation would be the inclusion of something or two somethings with short sleeves and the ability to layer with the sweaters – Indian summer is a common occurrence in New England (this week the temps will be in the 80's during the days) and the autumn sun can be very warm in the late afternoon, while our evenings and early mornings can be downright chilly! What a beautiful scarf – it would be a wonderful addition to anyone's wardrobe!

Yes, if the maroon is a replacement for the brown accessories, that would be beautiful. The color scheme is gorgeous, and as the very warm brown accessories are added it's like the whole thing goes a little sour, to my eye. Perhaps a more neutral, cool, or ashy brown? But I think a maroon with the greys and pastels would bring it all together. I would like to see it.

I love this color combo, and the scarf that inspired it. My colors now happen to be navy and grey with pastels – blue, yellow and pink. I love these posts – the scarves, the stories and the capsules. This one is very nice, and although the sugared-almond-pink is just about the worst possible colour fr me, it really doesn't matter, because when I look at that scarf (which of course I would love to win/ I see cappuccino/mink, aqua and a lightish green alongside the buttery yellow, which works perfectly for me. Wish I could find the yellow somewhere, though, instead of all the very harsh and neon yellows. Managing my own clothes and combinations is still a long way from ideal, though!
Have you tried LL Bean? Their pima cotton tees are very nice and the yellow is soft, not neon or harsh! Good luck!
