Wardrobe of the Week: March 26 – April 1, 2023

April 2, 2023

I’ve finished my 31 days wearing the same black wool tee shirt – and getting dressed the first day of April was difficult! Well, not difficult, but I did have to hesitate for more than a moment to think about what I would wear…

It’s difficult to explain just how amazing wool tee shirts are – after 31 days, my tee shirt STILL DOESN’T SMELL BAD!!!

It’s tempting to say that it’s because I am in some way free of any bodily contaminants (ahem…), but one must credit the amazing qualities of wool. I can’t encourage you enough to try one – even in warmer weather. If we’re all going to live with smaller, more carefully-chosen wardrobes, tee shirts that are THIS comfortable, and hold up THIS well, must be considered…

love,

Janice

Yay Janice! i love wool tees all year round – and for travel they’re indispensable. I wear them for hiking, yoga, dressed up and down. I prefer tees layered with a shirt or fleece or sweater over (cute vest, but the link isn’t working for me) but that’s just my preference, not because they can’t be worn on its own. Well done!

Morning, I didn’t have an issue getting dressed last week – it was spirit week and there was a different “theme” each day. My personal favorite was “Dress like Adam Sandler Day” Raided the boys’ closets and really rocked that one. My issue in choosing what to wear on any given day is the temperature outside and inside. The library temperature has wildly fluctuated the last couple of weeks and I just never know. And is it time to wear spring clothes? Maybe layered up? On Friday it was formal day and some of the girls looked so pretty in the dresses. I told one little girl “I wish I had places I could wear pretty dresses” Her reply? “Wear them everywhere!”… Awesome.

I ordered that wool tee and was super disappointed. It’s a wonderful garment and fit very well. Tees that fit properly are ridiculously hard to find sometimes! But the fabric was slightly scratchy. I have dry sensitive skin so I’m sure most people won’t have that issue. But I’m sad!

I’ve found some manufacturers to be scratchier than others. Maybe someone else knows why – I don’t. For example, my SmartWool long underwear is scratchier than my LLBean. I also have two merino fashion scarves (EF and Echo) and neither are scratchy. Same for linen. Some is scratchy and some isn’t.

I am highly allergic to wool – I react immediately with redness, rashes, and very real pain – even if there is only 5% in the fabric. I can tolerate the softest cashmere for only a short time. Acrylic is hard to tolerate usually but viscose and modal are ok. I just have to admire wool garments from afar. If anyone has other suggestions for warm fabrics, please do tell!

Janice did you buy a new Wool& dress in light gray? Or did the copy just lighten your black dress? If new, it looks like a great match to the star sweater and will blend right in with everything else. I like light gray for summertime.
