Start with Art: Landline Blue by Sean Scully

November 22, 2019

Can You Get Out of Work on Monday?

Because Friday is the anniversary of our first date…

Earrings – Kate Spade; blue spruce cardigan – Eileen Fisher; scarf – Kate Spade; bracelet – Akola; watch – Movado; blue spruce boiled wool dress – Eileen Fisher; black waterproof boots – Aquatalia; bucket bag – Reiss

“And I would like to take you into the city for a long weekend… We could dine out, and go to a concert, and just have a lovely time together…”

octagon earrings – Heidi Daus; Pegasus scarf – Aspinal of London; gold silk blouse – Polo Ralph Lauren; teal circle earrings – Alexis Bittar; teal velvet bag – Banana Republic; black cashmere cardigan – Lands’ End; blue spruce sweater – Eileen Fisher (sold out – similar here); long necklace – Akola; gold tunic sweater – P.A.R.O.S.H.; short necklace – Akola; robin print silk scarf – Aspinal of London; black pants – Nic+Zoe; loafers – Karl Lagerfeld Paris; black pumps – Calvin Klein; black dress – Elie Tahari; black velvet pants – Lands’ End

“There’s an exhibit at the museum of paintings by one of our favorite artists – we could go there too!”

Of COURSE she’ll get out of work on Monday. She had no idea when their first date was, until she was reminded. And her true love was indeed exactly right!

Who’s going to turn down a long weekend with a sweetheart so thoughtful, and with that kind of sentimental heart?

love,

Janice

2 years ago we looked at another teal wardrobe, with an emphasis on dressing up for the upcoming holidays…

This is soooo beautiful! This lovely teal makes me want to completely rethink my wardrobe! Thanks for the inspiration on this dreary Friday!

Yes! Teal is one of my colors. The first combo post of this I made it a stand alone section in my closet. The only time I wear black!

When I opened up today’s post, I gasped with delight! Every piece could immediately go into my wardrobe. The shade of teal is my favorite. It is amazing how color can affect one on an emotional and psychological level. I will have to do more research on the artwork, too. Thank you for brightening my day, especially since it is a cold rainy day where I am.

Teal… I’m so conflicted about teal. It is both rich and vibrant also the standby of a lot of, uh, too-conservative lines. Just don’t know… but I do like these wardrobes.

Oh boy, doesn’t that sound like a romantic weekend :) I like the mix of dresses and pants! I like teal and cream together!

I am going to use this post for ideas for a holiday wardrobe. But instead of the Pegasus scarf, I am going to substitute two Pegasus brooches that I have. Janice always encourages us to wear a brooch for the holidays.

I’m totally coverting all those teal pieces. They would go beautifully in my wardrobe. I have *lots* of teal in my wardrobe but most of thes pieces would complement rather than duplicate.

This is beautiful. I especially love the incorporation of the gold pieces. If it weren’t for the dropped shoulders I’d be sorely tempted by that gold tunic. But that’s a style that doesn’t work well on me. I’ll be so grateful when that trend cycles out.

How would you choose between the aqua and the midnight blue Robin scarf? Both are so pretty!

I had the same question/dilemma the last time Janice featured this scarf! I finally closed the tab and chose neither in a fit of budgeting willpower. Teal is one of the mainstays of my winter wardrobe. – nancyo

Oooh…. you could be really practical and choose the one that works best with your wardrobe, or you could just listen to your heart and see which of the 2 really draws your eye. If you had to save 1 of the 2 from completely vanishing from the earth, which should be saved?
      drastic measure, eh?
      hugs,

Wonderful, Janice! I love the ‘blue spruce’ and the dark teal of the related post. Both are such wonderful wintery colours and with ‘winter white’ it reminds me of the woods in the snow. I shall rearrange my wardrobe so I can see the possibilities. Velvet and satin – such a lovely combination. I also wear teal with very dark navy velvet bottoms instead of black.

Thank you for the suggestions. The darker scarf seems to be drawing me in so that is my choice. I didn’t want to dilly-dally as I did once before until the scarves were sold out, so I have made the purchase. This will go well with my navy, gray, and black clothing. I have several scarves that are more turquoise to aqua, and this will provide a different accent.

By the way, when did you last feature this scarf? I fell in love with it at that time.

The clothing in your post today and in the previous teal post are so beautiful. The black dress in today’s post, the teal blazer in the previous post, and all the accessories could make one drool!

What a lovely shade of blue! This is an especially nice travel capsule. Oh how I wish that color flattered me, but it never has. As it is, you’ve whetted my desire for a velvet jacket ?. The search begins!

To clarify, the velvet jacket was featured in the reference to the 2 year old post referenced in this post, which also used teal as an accent color.
