Our heroine, the ambitious bank employee, takes her wardrobe inspiration from this beautiful work:
At the end of June, her wardrobe included 28 garments:
And this snappy assortment of accessories. Our heroine is beginning to really understand the joy of wearing scarves…
This month, she’s finally buying a suit! It’s linen, so she understands that it’s for mostly warmer weather, but she’s absolutely NOT opposed to buying a second suit for cold weather. Men wear suits every day…
And yes, she went nuts on the scarf. Finding something that looked just right with her newest accent – the Baltic teal – wasn’t easy. But the scarf will still be around long after she’s the CEO of the entire bank holding company!
silk scarf – Ferragamo; linen blazer – Boden; brooch – Ninemoo; yellow shirt – Boden; Baltic teal tee – Lands’ End; pants – Boden; loafers – Sam Edelman
This is what our heroine’s 28-piece wardrobe looked like in the 28-piece template. For many of us, this would be enough clothes for a season…
But our heroine is going to have a larger work wardrobe than this, so we’re moving her into a 56-piece wardrobe template. When I lay clothes out like this, it looks like a TON of stuff, doesn’t it?
Why is it that clothing arranged in a way that we can see everything seems like it’s enough, but then I walk into my closet and it’s never adequate? This needs to be answered, to keep me from silly shopping…
Arranging the 32 garments by color looks beautiful, and makes it feel more than adequate…
And her accessories continue to appeal. I wonder if she might become known as a “scarf lady”?
Our heroine had all kinds of ideas about how she will wear all four new garments, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t experiment with her purchases too:
If I ever had to go back to work in an office (heaven forbid!!!), I would try to assemble a wardrobe rather like this. Modest and appropriate…
love,
Janice

p.s. Five years ago, The Weekly Timeless Wardrobe sang an ode to dark neutral shorts. I think that anybody who wears shorts MUST have a pair of these, right?
