I know from pain and from back spasm pain (used to have a muscle relaxant for spasms, which is actually a nice thing to have at such a time). We who are barely ambulatory salute you, advise the right kind of rest, and a mind free of worry. :-) Be well.
Sorry to here this, though you’ve been caring for your Mum as well as computer work which must be a strain. Can someone give you a bit of respite for a couple of days? Take care, rest, and have a bath with some Epsom salts in to relax your back or float in a swimming pool. I also look for pilates and stretching exercises online to help release the tension in the affected muscles. I now do some of them at the beginning of the day or when I get pain and stiffness. Bless you.
Addition: don’t know what the weather is like where you are, but it probably isn’t helping. I have spent the last. Week in long sleeved and fleeced and friends and colleagues have mentioned turning on the heating.
OH NO!!!! Been there, had those… OUCH!!! I’m so sorry… sending you soothing thoughts. Not that anyone’s advice ever resonates when you’re in pain, but I will echo the chorus for muscle relaxants. (Also, for me, i found that lying on my back, with my knees/lower legs resting over an ottoman, sort of like a reverse table? was a non-pain-inducing position. And once mobility increases a bit, a back brace – those stretchy bands with velcro, almost like a low body corset…). I hope you feel better soon!!!!!!!!
Oh Janice,
Soooo sorry to hear this ! Rest and take care of just you , we’ll be here when you have gotten past this . Prayers going up for a speedy healing !
So sorry you are in pain! I have never had back spasms (no thank you), but am scheduled for an epidural for sciatica. Here in Kentucky, we find bourbon helps all ailments. ?
Prayers for a relaxing, stress and pain free day. Take care Janice!
So sorry to hear. Will be keeping good thoughts for your speedy recovery. We’ll be waiting for you when you are well again! Your health always come first ?
Take off as long as you think you need, then add a little more time! We will all be here. Those of us who have had back spasms know how debilitating and miserable they are. Get thee to a doctor and follow his directions. If that includes PT, or whatever, take care of yourself.
Know your pain—it’s not pleasant. I have found a chiropractor helps, not to mention pain meds. The bath with Epsom salts is a good idea also. (I think I saw that mentioned earlier.) You probably have your own remedies also. If you are not feeling better, skip the Friday blog also. Remember, you first. Take care. Tenley (No reply necessary.
Oh, how horrible. My husband gets them often and I recommend Theraworx. $6 at any drugstore or amazon. It’s just magnesium and non-greasy, no odor, invisible foam – soaks right in. Also comes in a spray. I use it too and it gives immediate relief. (Not a paid or unpaid spokesperson, but $6 and with no risk it’s worth a try.)
Oh Janice, so very sorry! Take all the time, and especially rest, you need to heal properly. We’ll be here when you get back, meanwhile praying for you!
So sorry that you have pain. We live in the Chicago area and my husband has terrible back spasms. He sees a physiatrist for injections and acupuncture.
Hope your back feels better soon Janice. Even though we are strangers on the internet your posts are a comfort to us, so I hope our comments are a comfort to you. Rest up, don’t rush, see you when you are ready. x
Oh, Janice! I am so sorry!!! Back spasms were some of the worst pain I’ve ever experienced…and I did natural childbirth four times. Ice actually seemed to make it worse; the best relief was from a home tens unit and moist heat. But everyone is different; hoping you are able to conquer the beast soon! Rest up!
Dear Janice, I’m so sorry about the back spasms. It seems they come out of nowhere at the most inopportune time. I wish I had a magic solution to suggest. Unfortunately, these things take time to heal. Please let your mind and body rest, I imagine you wildly thinking about all the possibilities for September’s additions to the scarves wardrobes. Don’t worry, we’ll all be here when you’re feeling better. Blessings to you,
Amy
Rest and take care of yourself Janice and hopefully we will “see” you on Friday.
I can empathize, take care and we’ll wait patiently

My sympathies. Your artwork choice seems weirdly appropriate, not just for your situation, but for the month at large…
I hope you have a speedy recovery.
