December’s Birthstone is either Turquoise or Tanzanite – They Go with EVERYTHING…

November 30, 2017

This is the last month of birthstones… I’m already thinking that next year I’m going to look at the flower associated with each month, just for fun!

Turquoise is pretty easy to wear, since it comes in such a range of colors. Tanzanite only seems to be available in shades of that vivid violet/purple – not that there’s anything wrong with this color!

First up, greenish-blue looks absolutely perfect with warm orangish brown.. And that touch of hot pink in the scarf is really unexpected, but lovely…

blouse – Uniqlo; earrings – Isabel Marant; scarf – Liz Nehdi; bracelet – Astley Clarke; ring – Lizzie Fortunato; pants – Uniqlo

Some tanzanite jewelry is madly expensive, but oh so lovely…

navy sweater – J.Crew Factory; tanzanite earrings – Effy; necklace – David Yurman; ring – Temple St. Clair; cords – L.L.Bean; scarf – Mila Schőn Concept

Maybe wearing all of these accessories at the same time would be overdoing it, and maybe it wouldn’t! Would you dare?

sweater – L.L.Bean; earrings – Zoe Chicco; bracelet – Aurelie Bidermann; ring – Aurelie Bidermann; cords – L.L.Bean; scarf – Salvatore Ferragamo

I love this ensemble – I don’t know that I’d wear the necklace AND the scarf, but I wouldn’t at all mind having the 2 options…

turtleneck – Uniqlo; tanzanite earrings – Ice.com; necklace – Poppy Jewellery; ring – David Yurman; cords – Lands’ End; scarf – Liberty London

You’ve got to take a close look at this scarf – I don’t ever remember Hermes having such a sense of humor – a horse accepting an award? What will they think of next?

cashmere turtleneck – Uniqlo; earrings – Karen London; bracelet – Chan Luu; ring – ILA Dunbar; cords – L.L.Bean; scarf – Hermès “The Horsewards”

This jewelry feature tanzanite along with other stones, in striking color combinations; the scarf is the perfect complement…

merino turtleneck – Uniqlo; earrings – Bavna; ring – QVC; bracelet – Amour; jeans – L.L.Bean; scarf – StephieAnn

Some of this jewelry is so lovely… sigh…

But I’m already eager to tackle the idea of flowers – there’s no telling what I’ll find!

love,
Janice

Ah this is my birthstone, but I only have the blue turquoise in my jewellery collection which I tend to only wear in the summer with lighter, brighter clothes for some reason. I just love the dark navy and black ensembles with the tanzanite jewellery and those scarves are both stunning! As its my birthday tomorrow, I may well just treat myself. The birth month flowers is a great idea and something I've never really paid attention to before, so I'll be intrigued to see how that goes. Sharon, U.K.

    Janice,
Super pairings ! Yours is the only capsule wardrobe post that I repeatedly return to for real world inspiration, and though I cannot afford many of the suggested items , I use the ideas here to then seek out what works for me . The copper brown and greenish turquoise is one of my favorite combinations and is seen in my own wardrobe ! Olive and turquoise together is a new combination for me and it bears a trial with what I already have in my closet, thanks for the idea !

Lovely! And a heads up that the David Yurman tanzanite necklace seems to be a bad link. – nancyo

Thanks – I fixed it! Some day when we're all madly rich, I'm going to hire you to do nothing but check hyperlinks for me…

I have never thought of myself as daring but maybe I am. I have no problem wearing earrings ( big ones) a necklace, rings and bracelets along with a scarf. It all feels right to me.

Even though it is not my birthstone, I love turquoise, and you reminded me now great it looks with olive. That "Horsawards" scarf is hilarious, but I am in love with the Salvatore Ferragamo scarf! I can't wait to see what you find for each month's flower.

This is lovely and so reminds me of my mother. She was a December baby and loved her turquoise. She'd have knitted us all cable sweaters for Christmas too!

Didn't know there were flowers for the months but love the idea – look forward to it

Wow – everything is fabulous! Maybe I'm so in love with it all because of the sweater and casual pant outfits – I'd live in clothes just like these if I could. I'll also have to try pairing turquoise with olive, you've made it look so very interesting. My favorite is the last outfit with the tanzanite and purple accessories. I'd wear it tomorrow if it was in my closet. And btw, I like how you did the words turquoise and tanzanite in the actual colors – nice touch!
