A Clothing Diary: Week 11

May 21, 2015

Last week’s weather was enough to cause wardrobe whiplash – one day, bare legs and sandals, LITERALLY the next day, coats, scarves and gloves. We who live in the Midwest (or anywhere else in the world!) must remember that we don’t control the weather, and remain madly flexible!

earrings – Alexis Bittar, tee shirt – Lands’ End, dress – J. Jill, scarf – Crimson Paris, flats – Thierry Rabotin

Yes, the Vionic sandals are all that everybody told me they would be! I have silver, and red, and it’s a good thing I can’t justify having more pairs, or I would. Very comfortable, and casual but not junky looking. You know what I mean – those flip flops that look like they’re three weeks too late for the dumpster?

earrings – Rika, shirt – Everlane, skirt – Uniqlo, sandals – Vionic

My Eileen Fisher dress! Just as perfect as I had hoped…

earrings – Lord & Taylor, dress – Eileen Fisher, leggings – Eileen Fisher, flats – Thierry Rabotin

We went out early for Mother’s Day – Friday night. Turned out to be a really smart move, because the restaurant wasn’t packed, and our service was exceptional.

My dress is somewhat similar, but from COS. No longer available… sigh…

pearl necklace – Majorica, earrings – Majorica, dress – Etro, sandals – Jimmy Choo

I found a new company for beautiful jewelry – La Kaiser. Cindy is from here in Chicago, and she makes beautiful, small pieces that are comfortable for everyday wear or dressing up. If you want a touch of something LOVELY, visit her site…

And yes, I wore my sweater with teeny sequins knitted into it – why the heck not? Just because it’s Sunday afternoon…

earrings – La Kaiser, tee shirt – Lands’ End, sweater – J. Jill, scarf – street vendor, shoes – Munro, jeans – Eileen Fisher

I hope your week was as wonderful as mine was; I truly am the luckiest of women!

love,
Janice

Looking Back:

2013: Paris never ceases to amaze…

2012: What to wear with a necklace: peacock (one of the harder challenges I’ve been offered!)

2011: Things Europeans own: hot water bottles

I was in Washington DC, and I saw it from almost a block away. Belovedest saw it too – there was really no question of haggling! (the price was $10 – I'm not going to haggle at that stage…)

And that was… at least 5 years ago? I'll have it forever. That's what I call "whappage", when something you see whaps you in the head and screams "I'm perfect for you!!!"

Thank you for another week of showing us your wardrobe. My favorite posts that you do. I have a black patent pair of the Vionic sandals–and they are wonderful.

I have to admit to having more pairs of Vionic sandals than anyone person should but they are soooo comfortable. Definitely my go-to summer footwear!

I havé that J Jill dress, but not in denim; in khaki and in navy. When I find something that is so right, I often buy two. The dress has just the smallest amount of Lycra added to the cotton so it is super comfy. Also has good sized pockets in the side seams. Very versatile, you can dress it up or down. Love the Rabotin flats!

I followed the link to Crimson Paris, many temptations there. I think I say thank you. Now on my way to La Kaiser. I really appreciate how you search out the unusual, different and beautiful sites for us.
