Travel Capsule Wardrobe Packing for a Book Tour: Leaf Green and Black

September 16, 2013

After I finished today’s post for Tish at A Femme d’un Certain Age, I looked around at some other possible colors with which the black items could be worn… and stumbled upon some beautiful green options.  Not something which you might want to wear every day, but an interesting choice if you want to be remembered and make a statement of originality!

Blouse – Uniqlo,  earrings – Annette Ferdinandsen,  Black slouch pants – Helmut, black cardigan coat – Ann Demeulemeester,  scarf – Nordstrom,  watch – DKNY ,  flats – Delman , tote – Victorinox

Peridot and blue topaz earrings- Ippolita, green asymmetric sweater – Allude, earrings – Arunashi, green tank – Kilian Kerner  Senses, flowering branch bracelet – Corina Mardari, floral embroidered sweater – Christopher Kane, flowered cardigan – Moschino, skirt – Ann Demeulemeester,
jeans – 7 for all Mankind, pumps – Beautifeel, black short-sleeved cardigan – Comme des Garcons, square silk scarves – Hermes

love,

Janice

Thank you. I love green but was always unsure if wearing it with black was ok.

What beautiful pairings. I love this shade of green, but usually wear it with navy or white in the spring. So lovely to see options for black and cooler months. Have serious crush on the solid green scarf.

I absolutely LOVE this green and it is one of my best colours. I'm interested to know, however, why you say not to wear it every day?

I only said you MIGHT not want to wear it every day. If you adore it, and it makes you look happy, then you SHOULD wear it as often as you want. Never take anybody's advice if it keeps you from doing things that make you happy.

Thanks for letting me clarify that!
      big Monday morning hug,
      Janice

Just found your incredible blog from over at Tish's and so glad I did. I do a lot of traveling and your ideas are the most perfect solution to my ever packing nightmare. This latest is particular wonderful due to that bright and fun color of green. Splendid way of mixing and matching. I look forward to following you.

    Hello,
Love the clothes, but not the green. It's a colour I never wear, not quite sure why!
I just wanted to point out that none of your links work for me, I keep getting an error message

I've tried to update some of the links – as items sell out or get marked down at one retailer, I KNOW they break the links and completely change the product URL. Grrr….

The green takes on a life of its own against the black. It would work with grey, too, but the effect would be a bit more subtle. Your examples would lend themselves to almost any accent color. Again, you really have a gift for this and I appreciate your artistry. Thank you.

I kept coming back to this post and was fascinated by the green. I love peridot jewelry and have several lovely pieces, but have no clothes in green. I ordered a leaf green ombre scarf today to wear with my black. I admire your creativity. Hope it rubs off on me.

Thank you for featuring leaf green in the context of cooler weather. It has long been one of my signature colors (as it probably is for many blue-eyed blondes), but is usually only available in the Spring. I love that cashmere sweater… wish it had long sleeves!

Thank you for this amazingly timely post. I had just purchased one of those Hermes scarves that morning, got back to my hotel and found it featured on this post! It was difficult to choose between the two as they are rather similar in colour, but I went, in the end, for the La Promenade de Platon then wondered how I was to wear it as I didn't have anything else that was green in my wardrobe!
