Signature: Anne Selby pleated silk scarf

July 12, 2013

These scarves are sufficiently beautiful that they would make a compelling focus for one’s wardrobe.  Even if you didn’t wear the scarf every day, using the colors in it as a unifying theme for your purchases could  be a brilliant idea…

I do not wear scarves in July and August, but this is so feathery, it could change my mind. You find the most beautiful things. All this and in my colors, too.

These are really lovely wardrobe items. I'm not sure I could wear ruffles, but the idea of planning a wardrobe around a scarf is wonderful.

You beautifully promote scarves – which I love. I have several ruffled scarves and I just have not found an appealing way to wear them. Welcome your suggestions

I had not thought about the way to tie it. I am not much of a 'ruffle' person either, so maybe Janice can help us out.

I think I would just lay it around the back of my neck and let it hang – trying to do anything really complicated with a scarf that's ALREADY complicated might be trying too hard. Plus, I wouldn't want to scrunch these gorgeous ruffles!

I agree that the colors here are wonderful. Just yesterday, I began planning my own Project 333 using gray and taupe as my two neutrals, olive as my accent and soft peach as my signature. In my notes, I asked myself how realistic it was to combine gray and taupe; I was thinking along the lines of the camel and gray combination but using taupe instead because camel sallows me out. Your selections here give me courage. Rather than looking at odds, everything here blends in a beautiful muted way, which I absolutely love. I'm thinking "foggy mist in the woods." And, I have a beautiful oyster white leather handbag that I had not even considered as a potential accessory. It adds a lovely pearlescence to the look.

Sounds lovely – especially your inclusion of olive and peach.

Janice, thank you for putting together these inspiring wardrobes. I have become quite addicted to your blog, and I have really been studying your archives. I am hoping to slowly build a new wardrobe that fits my lifestyle as a stay-at-home mom. I want to invest in some beautiful, simple pieces. Could you please build a wardrobe around the white caps cowl featured on the wonderful crafting site, purlbee.com? I love everything about that cowl. Also, my signature color is blue. Thank you so much!

Ooh, taupe. Love. That's a beautiful scarf, it would work with most neutrals, I think. It reminds me of coral, or the frilly bits of anemones… Very organic, very beautiful.
    Great post.
