Chic Sightings: Navy and Green

July 24, 2013

Navy and green summer outfits – some for quite warm weather, and others that I saw in the more spring-like transitional coolness a couple of week ago.  All of them were fresh, pretty, and stood out in the crowd.

tank top – M Missoni, bag – Medusa, shorts – L.L.Bean, sandals – Zara, green agate earrings – Toosis, polo shirt – L.L.Bean, printed shorts – Stella McCartney, driving moccasins – Lands’ End

navy outfit with green accessories, and a navy and green striped shirt green tennies green ballet flats

green tank top – L.L.Bean, navy cardigan – L.L.Bean, jade ring- Monica Vinader, jeans – L.L.Bean, ballet flats – Fitzwell, striped top – DKNY, blue pants – Hobbs, silver and green bracelet – Monica Vinader, trainers – Phillipe Model

I don’t know if anybody noticed, but if you liked the way these colors looks, replicated a few of these outfits in your own wardrobe, and were a little bit rigorous in  sticking to one shade of green, you’d have a pretty nifty capsule wardrobe, or a pretty organized suitcase full of clothes:

Maybe because there are a lot of sweaters here? A lot of these sightings took place a couple of weeks ago when the weather was cooler…

      Good morning!

I don't know why my mother always told me that you should never wear blue and green together, but I really like it. In my fifties now, and I still feel like a an obnoxious teenager when I do.

Love these particular tones of green I don't often see. Your combinations are even more striking.

These are lovely combinations. For me, the challenge would be to find the same shade of green in a number of items. I did see a lovely pair of flat by Arche that were green the other day. I bought them in black, but can see that they green could be useful.

Even though I live in a warm/hot climate, I can use these examples for my climate. For example, I have a navy viscose jersey Eileen Fisher dress (actually two of them–one long, one knee length) and could wear them with green shoes and a scarf like the Brooks Brothers scarf you used here. I also have a gold/jade bracelet that is seldom worn.

I love checking your posts first thing every morning! The color combos and scarves are inspiring. I wore bright green and navy with a scarf today and got a compliment for the first time in quite a while!

I wore green and navy to work yesterday because of this post and found that I really liked the ensemble that I put together. Thanks again for helping me shop in my own closet.
