Chic Sighting: Burlington Massachusetts Mall

Sigh…  My trip wasn’t really fruitful, in terms of Chic Sightings.  Midway Airport in Chicago is NOT the place to look for fashion icons…But I was in the Burlington Mall on Sunday, and saw a lovely young woman – long blond hair, no makeup, radiant smile, and this colorful ensemble.  She looked comfortable and happy, and it didn’t hurt that she was with a very attractive young man!

Tee & cardigan – J. Crew, Jeans – Awear,
pearl stud earrings
& heart necklace – Tiffany,
bag – Bottega Veneta,
ballet flats – Jimmy Choo

You have amazing visual memory. Or do you whisk out your cellphone camera and photograph these "chic sightings"?

Actually, I carry index cards with me at all times – I jot down a description of the people I see! Often I have a couple of minutes to get the details, if I'm someplace like a mall or an airport. Sometimes, I just write down something like "navy with brown leather accessories", and that's enough to jog my brain later.

It's been ages since I've been to the Burlington Mall! I think after living in Vermont for years that kind of shopping experience might be a visual overdose for me!

I would never have put these colors together, maybe one or the other, but then again I am not young either anymore. Would you say that only a young woman can carry off this combination?

No, I think a woman of any age could wear this, if (a) they had the right coloring – this woman's blondness really helped carry the look, and (b) they had the right attitude. This young lady was beaming with happiness, and the brighter colors just reflected the glow she had.

This is a very cheery and fun option to perk up black,
I think it could be one that I might copy but I'd not wear a necklace I'd wear an Hermes scarf instead.

I too would wear a scarf (perhaps not an Hermes, and I just adore those shoes.

Have never been to Burlington Mall, but go to Natick Mall fairly often when I travel. In which part of MA is it located? Next time I go to Natick,I think I will sit for a few moments and look for "chic sightings." Good way to get inspiration. The young woman's outfit was very spring!

Welcome to the neighborhood. I was actually at the Burlington Mall last week, but unfortunately did not see any chic sightings, though I don't think my eyes are as trained to see them as you are.

I agree: an attractive man (who loves me) is the best accessory! But if he can't be with me, then I'll take those awesome ballet flats!

    Janice,
What can we learn from the near-misses when you're looking for chic sightings–or do you see many near misses? Is it a disappointing shoe, a lack of accessories, one "off" piece that's less than flattering or out of step with the outfit?

Or do you really just notice when the whole thing comes together?
    Thanks for training our eyes.
