Build a Capsule Wardrobe by Starting with a scarf: Hermès Les Parisiens in black

Someone asked me to suggest a few outfits to go with the lovely Les Parisiens scarf.  This particular coloring is a perfect opportunity to mix warm beiges or browns with black, so I took that as my motif. Please note that I’d be more than happy to suggest outfits to go with any scarf – it certainly doesn’t have to be Hermes.  Just post a comment with a link to a picture of your scarf, or email me a picture at [email protected], and I’ll take a look!

Sigh. I think that you wrote this post for me! As an ex-NYer who grew up on only back, I have, with great persistence, opened up my wardrobe to camel, white and brown. Thank you, as always, for all that you do. I may not be able to afford much of this today but the inspiration works wonders nonetheless. Merci.

Uh oh…I'm now wanting the scarves you are posting and wondering if I've given my family and friends something NEW to get me for gifts. I've never owned an Hermes scarf and think it's about time to begin. Caramels and blacks…yum!

Love this, Vivienne. I also love the combination of grey and camel. Thinking of using this combo for an upcoming trip. If I find a scarf that I think would pair nicely with this color combination, I would love to have you make suggestions. Thanks so much and good luck with the above offer.

I love the idea of camel and grey, soft and classic! I hope we see it soon!

I dressed for two months last fall out of a single suitcase based on gray basics paired with camel (and an occasional pop of mustard)and I never got tired of it or failed to feel polished and professional. It's still my favorite color combination. I can't wait to see your take on this. Vivienne, yours is my favorite blog, hands down, in the blogosphere!

I am the poster who asked for suggestions for this scarf. I don't own this scarf (yet) but saw it on another blog and thought it was lovely. Thank you so much for these ideas! You are truly talented. You ought to be a fashion writer with your own column in some spectacular publication.

Oh yes. I've been meaning to comment and ask you to look at Hostess's new scarf and build a wardrobe around it. I struggle to see myself in most silk square scarves, but when I saw Hostess's scarf, I swooned. I Could Wear That, I thought. But with what, in addition to solids in ivory and grey?

It's the most beautiful scarf I've seen in I don't know when, and kudos to Hostess for finding and choosing it–and looking very chic in it, I must add. Now if we just had Vivienne's elaboration on it, it would be heaven.
