Do we remember the veterinarian from the class reunion? She was the woman who used this as her style leitmotif:

And who had packed this eclectic mix for that trip:
tunic dress – Biba; necklace – Bauble Bar; earrings – Cornelia Webb; bracelet – Wallis; watch – Movado; scarf – Avant Toi; ring – Pomellato; cardigan – Jardin des Orangers; metallic tee – MM6 Maison Margiela; scarf – Santorus; ivory tee – Jaeger; belt – Levi’s; clutch – Elliott Lucca; cords – Mother; corduroy skirt – Dorothy Perkins; backpack – Chloe Stanyon; jeans – Closed; flats – Bernardo; loafers – L’Amour des Pieds
Since she’s an expert in the study of contagious diseases in free-range ruminants (someone’s got to study these things!) she’s been invited to an extensive symposium on lifestock health being held at a major university. Thus, she’s going to be gone for a while, and is going to need some additional things to wear:
It’s a college campus, so it’s casual. But it’s other animal health professionals, so she wants to look nice. And there will be at least a little bit of visiting of beasties in their various places of residence, so waterproof boots will be handy. (yes, the white jeans are ONLY for indoor meetings!)
She decides that a balance of jeans and lovely sweaters, with a dress thrown in for evenings, will do nicely:
Although the green accents look like a random addition to the uninitiated, she knows full well that it’s a carefully planned change of pace:
And she’s going to have a LOT of options, depending on what the event throws her way:
It’s such fun being an expert, even if you’re the smallest person in the room…
love,
Janice

ooh, I love how this wardrobe rounds out when the new pieces are added. She will definitely have plenty of versatile choices. This is so appealing even if these aren't at all my colors – nancyo
This is a great wardrobe for anybody whose job/lifestyle don't demand dressy clothes. The clothes are beautiful and classy, yet practical.
Love the colors, especially that green! However, I work for an agricultural company, and the biosecurity policy would mean that our lovely lady would wear none of these items to visit the livestock. Upon arrival at the farm, she would need to do a complete shower, change into company provided coveralls (not pretty ones), and wear boots that are kept at the farm before entering the barn – and do the whole process in reverse when leaving – and just for a visit! This keeps the outside bacteria from earring the barn, and prevents one barn's bacteria from going to the next barn or next farm. Just providing this info as an interesting comment on how work at a farm has changed, not a reflection on the beautiful collections that you spend so much care and time on. Keep it up, I look forward to your posts every morning.

Dear Sue,
I'm really happy that you took the time to clarify for us all just exactly what is REALLY involved in working with livestock. My images aren't necessarily incompatible with your essential routine – I show what she wears before and after she goes into the sterile environment! I do have to ask though, where are you located? This doesn't sound like something that would be enforced very rigorously in the US, but I'd be delighted to be wrong.
hugs,
Janice
I'm in the upper Midwest US, and this is company policy for what every employee and visitor does when coming to one of my employer's many farms. In fact, we screen our outside visitors to see what states and countries they have traveled to recently, and if they have been in contact in their everyday life with the same type of livestock we have, to keep any diseases they may have from coming in contact with our animals. Not all companies do this of course, especially little farms, but our vigilance has protected our animals in the past. But any of our vets (and myself) would love to wear your wardrobes!

Beautiful clothing, and I am still very often look at that Santorus scarf. I have always loved brown and white. I would be very happy very these clothes.
Ohhh! You mentioned the Santorus scarf so I went back and looked at it with fresh eyes. Went to the site and yes, it is on its way. Only one more left. Gorgeous. The last scarf I bought from Wolf and Badger was also fabulous. Janice is breaking my bank!!!
But remember, long after the clothes have worn out, you still have the scarf! It's not quite like investing in jewelry, but it's close… And a beautiful scarf transforms everything you wear with it!
hugs,
Janice
that Wolf and Badger site has some stunning scarves! And Janice, did you see the Orwell & Austin white cashmere scarf with black stars?
Oh dear….
Dear, oh dear….
hugs,
Janice
Janice, I still have some lovely scarves I wore in my teens. In 80's now. How right you are. Glad I did not follow the rule if not worn in a year, get rid of it.
Janice,
This wardrobe is ME ! With the possible exception of the white jeans — I would have to substitute with more of a khaki color, the colors here, as well as the casual theme , are my lifestyle ! I adore that cinnamon color and with the counterbalance of the teal-ish green, it's perfection !
I knew that the white jeans were a reach, but I liked the crisp freshness of the white with the teal/green… Sometimes, it's about the fantasy, isn't it?
hugs,
Janice
Love this color combination. Have been toying with the idea of buying cinnamon colored jeans, but shied away so far. Now after seeing this post, I will be buying them and mixing with my turquoise items. You always give me so many ideas about mixing colors that I thought would not go together, but some how on these posts they always do. Since I've been reading these posts, I look at my wardrobe with fresh eyes. Thank you so much for all you do!!!
You're welcome! I'm so happy that you enjoy The Vivienne Files, and get some fun new ideas. Combining colors should be an adventure…
hugs,
Janice
I really like the addition of the white jeans even if they are a challenge to keep clean, they add a brightness. Cinnamon and dark brown, j'adore.

Oh I love this colour combination!
I love the sweaters you've chosen – I would wear all of them!
Love, love, love!!! This truly makes me want to ditch all my black clothes!! I adore the new waterfall cardigan so much! I can't seem to find the link for the booties in the original post. Might just be me…….I will look again.
