Timeless: Some of My Favorite Posts from the Past, in subtle colors

Subtle colors are always harder for me, because I’m such a dyed in the wool black and white wearer. But these works of art are so beautiful, and the wardrobes are always so delightful (once I get them finished to my satisfaction!)

This painting is so gorgeous; I had to work quite a while on these wardrobes in order to do it justice!

Such beautiful colors here, too! These are difficult to find in our very enormous, but very limited, clothing world. What has happened that there is more clothing than ever, and fewer real options?

This is the lovely painting that launched THREE wardrobes:

The painting is so beautiful, and the subject is just so… evocative? exotic? I’m not sure of the right word, but I know that this painting continues to capture my attention and imagination.

This is one of my all-time favorite wardrobes, and certainly one of my favorite characters!

This is a painting that makes me want to pack up and head to the station! What a lovely color scheme, too….

The story of this heroine is particularly stirring, and the evolution of her work wardrobe in the 2nd installment includes some of my best insights, I think…

This was one of the early “Start with Art” posts that I did. I’m still so smitten with this painting, and the subtle weirdness that is so alluring…

I love it all- this is awesome idea!!

I would prefer all wardrobes would be more up a notch or two, like "Building a Capsule Wardrobe by Starting with Art: Arrival of the Normandy Train by Claude Monet Version 2"

I love the Claude Monet train station colors. Those I would wear. I'll have to look for some dusty blue and green knit fabric for tops. I have plenty of shades of gray and black to wear with them.

I've enjoyed seeing all of these wardrobes again, but I'm missing my all-time favorite, the series based on "Dantis Amor" by Rossetti. Also, with regard to the comment by Anonymous at 2:56, I enjoy seeing a variety of wardrobes, both casual and formal, moderately priced and more expensive. That approach shows what can be accomplished at different price points. My two cents worth, :)

Isn't it Jan TOOROP in stead of Jan TOORUP? An artist from "my" Netherlands.
    (love your blog btw)
