Wearing Hermes Petit Duc Silk Scarf All Year – July through December

January 9, 2014

Scarf – Hermes Petit Duc,  carnelian earrings – Neeru Goel, mesh linen cotton sweater – Roberto Collina, shorts – Organic by John Patrick, flat sandals – K Jacques St. Tropez, white tank top – L.L.Bean,  striped linen shirt – Camicettasnob, nylon sports skirt – Patagonia, espadrilles -Nomad

Scarf – Hermes Petit Duc,  cabled cashmere sweater – Ralph Lauren, taupe trousers – Planet, bracelet – Alexis Bittar, metallic loafers – Easy Street,  tweed skirt – Ted Baker London, turquoise sweater – Sessun, fluorite earrings – LeJu, taupe flats – Rockport

Scarf – Hermes Petit Duc, sweater – Minuet, rust chino pants – Seven for all Mankind, stacking rings – Anabel Campbell, ankle boots – Frye, brown sweater – Joie, drusy agate earrings – Gemstone Jewelry of Southern Brazil, silk pants – Kaufmanfranco, ballet flats – Born

This, to me, is the most compelling part of the entire project.  After spending a year carefully selecting outfits that have a unifying theme (or motif, or scheme…), you begin to see a very versatile and harmonious collection of garments and accessories.  A wardrobe, in fact!

The quality of the garments come through in these posts. Simple lines of clothing that are receptive to embellishment and the creative mind of the owner. What chapter is this in your book?

Wow! Never was there displayed better rationale for investing in an important Hermes scarf! What interests me especially about this post, Janice, is the way the colors are unexpectedly subtle for high summer–with color saved for November, when the wearer needs it most.

My biggest 'aha' moment was when I realized that I would have never bought this scarf on its own. But put together like this, the possibilities abound. I own only about a handful of really pricey scarves, but I will certainly look at them differently now. And since I am icebound today…

It's surprising how a such that is predominately plain, with just a few lines of colour has generated such a wonderful set of outfits. I really like these sets and the scarf!

Thanks for all the hard work you devote to your blog. Although I rarely comment, I always enjoy your ideas and read your entry every day. Your current "scarf" suggestions are innovative and creative.

Amazing! I have some very similar piece but would have never put them together. I knew I did not need to buy ANYTHING but then I got stumped. I wonder how long it will take me to pick up a 10th of your skills?
    Thank you

Beautiful again! And more lovely soft grey. I looked at the cabled sweater and then I saw that it was cashmere and designer, so out of my price range… the search goes on.
