Chic Sightings: Grey and Peach

August 21, 2013

I’ve left the grey garments the same as the ones that I used with shades of green last week, in order to really emphasize the degree to which these outfits shift in their mood and appearance based on the accent color used.  Here again, we see a successful pairing of warm and cool colors!

Tee shirt – Dolce and Gabbana, shorts- Emma Cook, earrings – Cynthia Jones, sandals – Ferragamo, peach trousers – Ted Baker London, scarf- Terracotta New York,  loafers – Geox ,  silk top – Emporio Armani

Sweater – Maison Kitsune, scarf -milleneufcentquatrevingt, cropped trousers – Moschino Cheap & Chic, flats-Adrienne Papell, Silk blouse – Equipment ,   skirt – Marc Jacobs, necklace- YooLa, cardigan – Miu Miu, pumps – Tsubo

Dress – Cacharel, cardigan – Dorothy Perkins, bracelet – Hringa,  sandals – Splendid, cardigan – Monsoon, canvas shoes – Keds, jeans – Monsoon, flats – Frye

And I noticed as I was pulling together these various looks – all of these garments, taken together, make a very lovely and rather versatile capsule wardrobe.  Yet another compelling reason to decide once and for all what your favorite “signature” motif or theme might be, and build upon it!

love,
Janice

Oh my, Janice. I am in love. These are my colors and the pairings are brilliant. My only concern is that I will want to go out and purchase every piece- well, at least the ones that I don't own already. In fact, I am going to take the pieces from my wardrobe which are very similar to these and see how many outfits I can duplicate. So lovely. Thank you. And just as a point of information, I am a fair-skinned, blonde with green eyes and every time I wear this combination, especially with peach near my face, I receive compliments.

I'm also a fair skinned blond with green eyes and these would be great colors for me also. I have the gray–and some peach. I will be open to other pieces to mix into what I already have.

It's interesting that you are able to put together pleasing combinations that contain colors I don't even like. I am planning a European trip around a sapphire mycra pac raincoat with shades of brown, cream, white and navy, including a vintage Hermes scarf in blue, gold, brown and black. Your archives have something vaguely similar, but I was hoping you could help with a visual for these colors. A friend introduced me to your blog several months ago, and I have really enjoyed your sartorial editorials!

Which scarf? I'd love to work on this…

The scarf is Cannes et Pommeaux, in blue and white. The blue border is close to the hue of the mycra pac, which is the Donatella style (sans scroll fabric, this one is solid blue reversing to black) with the pleated collar that pulls into a hood. Also on the packing list is a new Ralph Lauren fortuny-style pleated long rectangular scarf in white, brown and gold. I am looking for a more stylish blue shoe to take along with brown Ecco suede brogans (8 years old but still comfortable). I am thinking brown and khaki and navy slacks, perhaps a pair of jeans, cotton ribbed turtlenecks (navy, brown, tan, gold, white), a RL light blue workshirt, RL navy cardigan with brown toggle closures. Going for 10 days mid September, Prague, Salzburg, Munich, most formal occasions a few symphony performances (no dress needed), most casual a Sound of Music bike tour! Luggage: brown Lipault plume carryon, need to purchase a large tote style handbag, looking at Longchamp Pliage in brown or navy, also considering Michael Kors in brown or navy, would welcome other choices! Minimal gold jewelry, I have the large face Brooks Brothers watch with toggle closure chain strap you featured a few months ago, will take round quilted looking earrings and chain bracelet, both real gold, mostly wear scarfs instead of necklaces but would like something new and fun but not costume-y, the BB watch is really too bright already iykwim. Thank you for your help— I have always planned travel wardrobes but never before with this level of intention. Age 57, travel quite a bit.

Am thinking of also taking an orange twilly with the brown bridle print, purchased it from the 2011 collection and have not worn it very often, perhaps as a bracelet and headband?

Thank you Janice. I have been trying to create a capsule wardrobe for some time but always failed as I lacked direction. Your blog has given me ideas of how to edit my wardrobe and create a capusle wardrobe of my own. I think the key has been finding my signature. Maryann
