YES! I would live in that transit outfit. Gorgeous! And I've that Michael Kors watch is beautiful, too.

I am still adjusting to the new format. It is a lot easier to find older posts. Love the colors in this set.

One of the big reasons I changed the layout was to give greater visibility to older posts; I'm finding that I get a lot of requests for wardrobes that I've already done! But the old layout was making it really difficult for readers to find the earlier work – I spent an hour a day send people links and dates of posts that would address their particular concern.

This is, of course, a work in process. My traffic numbers have tripled since the change, so I have to suspect that new readers are finding me; I would love to share this important message with younger readers, who view blogs on mobile gizmos.

struggling to do the right thing,
    Janice

If any blog is worth the effort of adjusting to a format change, it's this one. I don't find anything easier about this format, but I think I'm in the minority. Janice, your work is fabulous, and if this format brings you greater visibility, we all win.

I agree; I'm adjusting. But, whoa, when I first pulled up the new format, I felt lost, so I just peeked in and then went away, thinking "maybe this is over for you." Decided to tentatively put toe in the water again, because I need my daily dose of Vivienne! I'm getting the hang of it now; I'm just very behind-the-times, don't have any of the hand-held gadgets, don't do Facebook and only got into blogging a couple of years ago, so I don't know about different formats. (Some of us are dinosaurs. I still type some things on a typewriter, like forms and envelopes. The younger people don't even know anything about typewriters. But I've got a teenage cousin, kid of techie parents, who was raised paperless with only mouse and keyboard; poor kid has no signature, smart as anything but can't even write out his own name with a pen. When he signs a document, looks like it's from a six-year-old. And he can't do math in his head either.)

The new format is beautiful! (And timeless, and classic, and elegant, and simple!) Janice, you are a treasure!
Here is a poem I found and immediately thought of you!
    Hugs,
    Renee

    November

    November wears a Paisley shawl
To keep ker sagging shoulders warm.
Her bonnet's decked with rusty flowers,
An apple basket's on her arm,
And with a dusty, rustly sound
Her wide skirts sweep along the ground.

She trudges up the sunset hills,
    In spite of winds a-blowing,
To seek a shelter on beyond –
She must know where she's going –
For, wrapped in Paisley red and brown,
She rustles, rustles through the town.

I'm with everyone else. You are so talented and caring, we want you to keep doing your magic for us. What ever saves you time and keeps up with the times works for me. It also helps my aging brain cells to fire as I adjust to the change.

Love the new format. And listen: Just when I thought I'd gleaned all the big bits from your wardrobes, voila! I have unearthed accessories that I haven't worn in ages. Winter is looking good from here. You keep me courante, or at least, more so.

I refer to your site at least once a day … Always a pleasure and an inspiration. But the new format does not work, or rather works only slowly and inelegantly on my iPad. Hard to navigate, hard to locate favorite posts, (doesn't like the search feature). Miss the archive list by date and the cloud bubble … But mostly rue the slow speed. Even got bounced out of the site once! Ouch!

Then I tried it on my computer. There, I can't see or access any readers's comments.
Is this a trial or a permanent format change? Joy

I was also bounced, and can't find things in my preferred way – by that handy cloud bubble, where I can look up just "A Common Wardrobe" or "Navy".

I'm so glad your traffic is increasing and that you're getting a bigger return from Google Adsense! You deserve it for the hours you put into this. Is your "day job" related to clothing? If not, it should be!

(I've always been an anonymous poster, but I'm a daily reader via email subscription and refer you to friends often!)

The bubble of tags is still there! If you drag your cursor to the upper right edge of the screen, where that dark, vertical bar is located, the bar will pop open (you can even drag it away from the edge and make it a free-standing toolbar). That bar has the links to the labels, the blog archive etc. It's not gone, just wicked hard to find…

Well, I groused about the new layout yesterday but have since read your comments on the "why" and am sold on your reasoning. Anything that saves an hour/day and triples views… I can figure out too ;-) And it IS starting to grow on me. Thanks for listening to your readers.

Oh! Just found the pop-out sidebar on the right with the archive listing! I guess what I miss is the picture at the top, but it is easier to scroll the old posts. I love your blog so my vote is anything that makes it easier for you to feed my addiction!

FYI: On my laptop (a Macbook) everything works very well. I have many options as to the layout and finding things is a breeze. On my iPhone 4 using both the native Safari browser as well as the Chrome browser, I can only see a search bar, but not the tabs with the labels. The only 2 tabs visible on both browsers are "about" and "subscribe".
You might see whether there is a way to add a "non-mobile" option and that might allow us to see all the sidebar tabs.

    Hugs,
    Renee

I can't comment from my ipad or iphone at all. I tried three times today at different time. I"m using my macbook now to see if it will work. Also, the ipad interface is slow and jerky. I will go back to viewing your blog on my laptop if necessary. I don't know whether or not there is anything you can do on your end of things. At any rate, I appreciate all you do with this blog. It is my favorite by far! SewingLibrarian

Found your blog through 333 project – LOVE YOU! You really show all the possibilities of a capsule wardrobe without boredom setting in. Thanks to you, I'm working on my basic pieces (as nice as I can afford) and then working on some fabulous accessories that make everything pop! Really – you are a breath of fresh air when it comes to dressing with STYLE!

Janice, the more courageous I've gotten with the new format, I'm experiencing zero problems. I have internet explorer on my home computer (not a laptop). The format is fine; it just was me, as user, learning to navigate the new options. I was so surprised the first time I pulled up your new page this past week as it was an unexpected change to me and I've never quite seen a format like this new one but I'm also not an experienced web surfer either. (I think you added color today…the pink bar? Love that!) Hope the above info helps, as it seems other readers are experiencing a few mechanical issues. Don't get discouraged; you're doing us all such a public service! Nobody here is trying to cause you stress; if anything, it's maybe a little bit of "panic" over missing a post! Thanks very much for your efforts to make the site reader-friendly for everybody. I'm a "cool" (the blacks) but, I must say, of all the "warm" colors you've been doing, these camels are my favorite of the posts; it's a fun collection here, and I love the little skirt In The Bag. This capsule is just so complete; perfect.

I used your six pack method to prepare for a trip to LA and the results were splendiferous. My no stress wardrobe was a beacon of sanity during a week of travel with two small children, plus, it just made me so happy to be organized. I'm a convert, thanks Janice! Oh, and this wardrobe is fabulous, as always :)
