I love this outfit. It's extremely practical! Plus, when the weather turns colder, the wearer just needs to add a cardigan and coat…and voila! Season-ready.

I don't usually comment about individual pieces since I try to look at the ideas, not the pieces. But the split-toe flats creep me out to no end! I know they're expensive and en vogue and all that, but I would be completely distracted if I were having a business meeting with someone wearing them.

Oh NO!!!! Those were NOT the shoes she was wearing – I grabbed the wrong image. This will be corrected tonight, when I get home from work. I'm SO GRATEFUL you commented. In your mind, substitute nice non-split patent flats…

Whew! I am so relieved. I know you often pick similar images rather than the actual item, so I was hoping that was the case. Not that I am the arbiter of what's fabulous or anything, I know plenty of people love those shoes and it's probably just my hang-up…

I have to post similar things – I can't just throw women down on the street and ask them what brand of clothing they're wearing. Although sometimes, I've been tempted… When I do Chic Sightings, I try to do justice to the overall appearance of the women I see – sometimes I have to compromise on the EXACT items!

I think anyone would be incredibly flattered if you were to ask. Of course it'd probably be overkill to do that every time you had a chic sighting, but if you wanted to find a particular item for your own wardrobe…

You never know, they may follow your blog and that's the reason they look so put-together in the first place!

It's surprising sometimes how flattered someone will be when you ask. I learned to do that about hair. I read once that if you see someone with a hairstyle you like, hit 'em up; ASK. They've got a great hair stylist behind the great hair. Of course, you have to choose your circumstances and approach (starting off with the big compliment is best); the appropriateness at the time. But I've gotten some good tips. (Janice, we're not trying to tell you how to do your "job." We're not there; we don't know the setting. Just say'in…) I think it's phenomenal how you do the sighting and pretty much identically come up with the capsule from memory and have it here on the web! I guess we tend to zero in and freeze-frame in our minds what takes our eye, but not everybody can do what you do, Janice. I can't help but keep referring to you as Genius Janice.

Nice example of a well put together ensemble. Nothing fussy or complicated this can be adopted to anything from jeans to silk trousers. This to me is the essence of being well dressed.

Looks like red and black on my computer, which I associate more with winter, but this is pretty much end-of-summer and perfect, isn't it.

On my screen it's a pretty coral, not red. It's amazing how different screens show color.

I just bought a black and white scarf from a thrift store this past weekend. Nice to see one styled here.

I know you have mentioned it before, but how do you get such crisp photos of the items you show us? I just started putting my current wardrobe up on polyvore and I would love to be able to make the images cleaner. Thank you.

I love your blog – it's so inspiring! As a stay-at-home single mom with aspirations to wear more than yoga pants, I love your outfits! And let's just say that your Parisian weekends help me live vicariously….

Now, how would you wear that cute scarf??? I can completely see myself wearing all of these pieces, but can't picture the scarf. Thank you!!!
