Packing: start with a favorite cardigan

A great question: I KNOW I want to take this cardigan, and use it as my “base” for my packing plan.

This sweater let me branch out in two distinct directions – brights, and black & white.  Lots of choices, and quite a bit of versatility, while still all in one carry-on bag!

Cardigan – Oasis, pearl & ruby
earrings – Macy’s, red tote – Lulu Guinness, tee – Debenhams, scarf –
Pashmina Art, pants – Donna Karan, loafers – Tod’s

Tee shirts– Madewell, pearl
& red agate necklace – Blue Nile, bracelet
–
Dream Mullick,
teal earrings – Amrita Singh,
black and white earrings – Kate Spade, crossbody bag – Marc by Marc Jacobs, cardigan
– Mango, flowered tee – Minuet, sunglasses – Ray Ban, White
capris
– Current/Elliott,  teal
sandals – Dolce Vita, black capris
– JOSEPH, striped skirt – Modcloth, green dress – Dorothy Perkins, Two-tone
dress – Gucci, flat sandals – Chocolat Blu, black
& white ballet flats – Christian Louboutin

True that! That's why I made sure that there were other pants, skirts, and 2 dresses in the mix. I have a spot remover bar – a Vanish bar – that I always buy in Ireland. That sucker could take ANYTHING out of ANYTHING. For the space/weight of packing it, I've never regretted having it with me.
      big hug,
      Janice

Bonjour! I am your newest "follower." I discovered your blog on Tish's a few weeks ago. Thank you for these creative suggestions. One day, you will be credited for the disappearance of the dreaded Birkenstock sandal and the bright white sneaker on the Champs Elysées in Paris :-) Looking forward to reading more of your versatile "travel combos." A bientôt, Veronique (French GIrl in Seattle)

I spent 2 weeks in Southern India bringing 2 pairs of white capris which went with about 6 light breezy tunics and 1 pair of black capris. The white pants held up suprisingly well and really only got grubby on the thighs from putting my handbag on my lap in the car. I alternated them and could get about 4-5 wears each. 9 days of cool white pants and soft floaty pastel tops was very acceptable. I soaked them overnight when we got home and they came beautifully clean.

Packing for our trip this weekend is SO much easier since I followed your plan for a long weekend in NY last month. I get it now, even if I don't always have the closes … yet … that I need. Am moving from gray and pink to white and pink – it is Memorial Day! – and it was so easy. Thank you 1000 times!
