I agree, I have been in the workforce for 20+ years and I only have a handful of brown things

But I do love this set

Ralph Lauren (the affordable, department store RL line) always has nice brown dresses with longer sleeves that are great for work. Ann Taylor has quite a few tops in the bright blue from this set.

This wardrobe is lovely. I'm surprised that it's been so difficult to find brown because I have a LOT of brown – 5 pairs of brown pants, 2 brown coats, 1 brown jacket plus tops and sweaters. It did take me a while to find a brown skirt, but I picked up a great one at a thrift store recently. In fact, I wore so much brown that I got sick of it, and have been trying to mix it up with other colors as well as building a base of gray as well. Gray was hard to find a few years ago but now it's everywhere and there is perhaps less brown at this moment, but it goes in and out of phases. Neither brown nor gray are as ubiquitous as black, so while they are not terribly difficult to find, it might take just a little more patience as compared to a black based wardrobe.

I think I may have been the anon who requested this capsule. Thank you Vivienne!

A nice rich brown is hard to find. Most people seem to prefer grey or black. Some vendors who do brown most years are Lafayette 148 and Ralph Lauren. I just try to buy it when I see it and hope I can get some of it on sale. It's hard to resist black, but I look dreadful in it and grey is not much better. After a number of years I have a good capsule but I also use camel and ivory to build up my wardrobe.

    Thanks!

I'm the anon of the first posting and today I wore brown pants, brown jacket and a bright blue cam, in the shade you indicated. My work resident fashion queen said "don't you look great".

    Thanks for the idea

Help.. please help me Vivienne.. I'm a late 50s, still chic, medium brown/grey hair.. (never dyed)cut into sort of a long bob.. I've been told I have good figure still, but tummy spreads! My shoulders are slightly wider than my middle thankfully. Good with V neck shirts, but with sleeves.. I like to wear black, brown, (my skin tones are olive/ dark brown eyes).. gold/silver jewellery, love orange lipstick. I'm traveling soon to a warm climate (Vietnam)but need to look smart/business but not suits. What do you suggest I pack in?.. I'm a black pant lady! I'd SO value your assistance please. If you'd like to contact me.. jeanw at thecapeclub dot com – I can email you a pic then. Grateful thanks for assistance. PS.. I love bright colors.. shock pink, turq looks good on me, etc.
