Building a Capsule Wardrobe by Starting with Art: Mary Cassatt's Lydia Seated in the Garden

This lovely painting made me crave soft textures and subtle colors, with a decided femininity - even if it's a sweatshirt, it's a SOOO soft sweatshirt!  Menswear details just accent the delicious color of the suede shoes...

Dress – Vanessa Bruno, scarf – All Saints, flats – Carvela, blouse – Givenchy, skirt – J. Crew, pumps - rsvp

Blue cardigan – Romwe, scarf – Malene Birger, woven flats – Mia, dress – Go Green M by M, cotton shirt – Organic by John Patrick, skirt – Cacharel, pumps – Salvatore Ferragamo

  5. You have captured the moods of the painting beautifully. What lovely colour combinations and as you say, soft and feminine. I'm especially impressed by the green coat + scarf + tan boots ... we hardly ever see colours like that for outerwear in Australia; it's all black, beige or red, and mostly black. Sigh for the Sonia Rykiel budget.

  7. I, too, love the work of Mary Cassatt! She provides wonderful inspiration. If you're ever in Boston be sure to see her works at the Museum of Fine Arts!
