Transition: Whatever’s Clean in Brown and Beige

Quite a few people have asked me to show how to move from a beige and brown wardrobe into something with more brown.

  • The Whatever’s Clean Summer Wardrobe in Brown, Beige and White

all garments – L.L.Bean

The first three garments to phase out are the sleeveless beige linen top, white linen pants, and the shorts.  Remember, you can do these in whatever order you prefer, and that “phase out” does not have to mean “put in some inaccessible place for the next six months”.

In October, we can choose to find replacements for the white tee shirt, the beige linen dress, and the beige linen skirt.

And in November, the last of the linen “bottoms” are due for a rest, and the white tunic is ready to take a back seat for a few months:

You’re now working with this 22-piece wardrobe.  So very many options!

Tomorrow – some accessories, and some outfits, will bring some lift to this capsule wardrobe.

This series is so clever — clearly shows how to get maximum mileage out of one's clothes.

I have finally ordered some LL Bean clothing, shorts and t-shirt ( all cream and beige!) The quality and fit is excellent and the price is good too. Janice, I know you don't receive any benefits from them but you are an excellent ambassador for them

Can't wait for you to add the accessories in the next installment to make it all sing.

I would love to see a series like this one in shades of gray and black with different kinds and colors of accessories–especially including dresses, pants, sweaters, coats, etc. And shoe and boots! Janice, you are the best–your blog is the first thing I read each morning. I'm glad you post it early!

referring to the above–white with the black and gray would be good.

I enjoy your blog a great deal. So helpful. We are driving our daughter to California from Ohio in Sept. And then hubby and I driving back. So these capsules are really helping me decide what to take to make plenty of different looks, but not take up room in car for luggage.
