I Built Us a Worksheet…

I realized that I needed a good worksheet for building my own 24-piece wardrobe, so I built a JPG file that we can all use.

Click below – it costs 99 cents, to help me pay for the file hosting.  Let me know how it works for you!

Thanks for another great idea! Already got it and now just need to fill in the blanks and get myself organized.

Seeing this in text form makes this easier to apply to my own wardrobe. I'll use a pared down version of this for a nice vacation packing list on my next trip.

I must be doing something wrong. It's a pdf, so I can't "fill in the blanks". I did use it as a template for a Word document, though, so all is not lost.

(edited to add) Printing it and writing on it makes perfect sense!

If you have Adobe Acrobat (not just Adobe Reader, the software which reads, but the one which can create as well ), you can go into the "Advanced" drop-down tab, and choose the typewriter tool. I'm not at all proficient with Acrobat, but using the typewriter tool, you can enter text into the blank lines.

Can you explain what this is? Do we add descriptions? Or do we drag pictures to make our file?

The original intent was to print it and write on it – I still get lots of requests for documents on paper. But you could certainly work with pictures if you want – I think that would be pretty neat.

Thanks so much!! I am also preparing for a trip, and this should help a lot. Not to mention helping with the wardrobe paring down situation!!

This is a great chart, might even be better in an excel format, as the cells can be edited and enlarged to accommodate photos or drawings of actual pieces in the "my choice" column. Just a suggestion…I will probably just make this into my own excel page.

Can I look at it first? I only get a file to put in my "cart", but I'd like to preview it – is that possible? Am I missing something? Sorry!

I'm having the same problem as Judi. I can't preview it either. Am I missing something too?

Thank you so much for this and all of your thoughtful, fun columns. I love your taste! I'm retired now (age 58 but I'm told I look more like early 40s, how nice LOL), and so I don't wear black all the time as before. Now I tend to like more color in my wardrobe (lighter turquoise and brighter pink, and cream — even though I live in freezing New England — but bottoms are dark, white and khaki jeans), but your own wardrobe suggestions keep me mindful of the importance of having pieces that can be mixed and matched into many outfits. I wish I liked gray more; you do such great things with it!

If you have any suggestions for capsule wardrobes that include brighter colors that can be mixed and matched, I'd love to see your ideas. Thanks again!

Ha! My dilemma above has been resolved! Now the spreadsheet has shown up on my computer, so I can print it or make my own Excel document, whatever works. Thank you, Janice!

    Hi,
thanks for the spreadsheet it looks perfect for planning my first professional wardrobe.
I quite like wearing dresses though – could you advise how you would incorporate these? Should I take out a Neutral1/2 simple top and replace by a dress? Would you add another set of 4 with dresses?
    Thanks, Victoria

Just a guess based on the other posts but I think anywhere it says 'skirt or pants' can be replaced with a dress instead.

I downloaded with iPad as our computer crashed. But I couldn't get anything to come up and I can't see how I can make another attempt short of purchasing again. Anyone have tips on retrieval? Doss it not work for iPad? Thanks!

Thanks so much for all you do. This looks like a great starting point for my revamped wardrobe plan. Since I've recently discovered the extra mileage I get from a more basic wardrobe with accessories, I'll be addiing those details to my copy of your planning template.

I didn't build a specific space for them, but you could always be really thorough and jot them down in the margins! When I start showing accessories for these capsules – probably by the end of the week – I might build another worksheet specifically for them.
