My Present for Myself, and a Giveaway for You!

December 9, 2013
I’ve been meaning to get a new silver chain necklace for years – I had a beautiful one that was stolen about 10 years ago, but I’ve just never seen one that had “whappage” – that quality that causes something to stick in your mind…But I’ve spent a lot of time looking at Novica recently for jewelry to show you here, and in the course of all that looking, I saw this simple yet appealing critter:

Silver necklace – Wayan Asmana

Since I’ve been linking to so much Novica jewelry, I wanted to know for a fact that their things were nice – high quality and good value.  After receiving this chain last week, I can vouch for this company without reservations – this chain is heavy, meticulously finished, and came packaged in a way that you don’t get from your garden variety department store.  I will shop from them again…And if you’d like to be entered to win a $25 gift certificate to Novica, just leave me a comment on this post sometime in the next seven days – cut off will be 5:15 AM next Monday morning, the 16th.  At that time, I’ll count the number of comments, generate a random number in Excel, and post here which commenter won.  If you leave an anonymous comment, that’s okay – just be sure to same something sufficiently creative and distinctive that you will recognize yourself when you win!

love,
Janice

I started looking at their jewelry when you first posted it. I like the unique creations that people come up with and that they are helping small businesses. I love many of their earrings, I'm not much of a necklace person (I hate things touching my neck).

So many silver necklaces are rather wimpy compared to their gold cousins. I don't wear gold, so I am always a tad jealous when I see a gorgeous necklace available only in gold. This necklace has enough oomph to make a statement yet remain a classic for years and years to come. Thank your for your jewelry posts — lovely!

You might want to look for bullion dealers who supply silver sheet, chain etc, as they will sometimes either sell you the desired length of chain and add a clasp, or sell finished chain, either of which usually costs considerably less than buying from a jewlellery store. I did this in London, and have a beautiful heavy and intricate chain, but unfortunately, the company I used appears not to sell chains etc any more.

After your recent posts on neutral earrings, I was bemoaning a-fresh the demise of my smokey quartz earrings. They were simple, neutral, and beautiful. Alas the wire hook snapped, and they sank, forgotten, to the bottom of my jewelry box. But, like others, Novica is new to me, so I checked it out. There are three (THREE!!) pairs of smokey quartz earrings that would make make lovely replacements. So, thank you for the introduction to Novica!
