Chic Sightings: Grey and Yellow

August 27, 2013

I saw a couple of these outfits late last winter, and then didn’t see the color combination again until this week, where I spotted it a handful of times.  This is a great look to collect if yellow flatters you…

Stella McCartney, jeans – 7 for All Mankind, earrings – Linnie McClarty  oxfords – BC Footwear

Sweater – Tom Scott,  cropped trousers – Moschino Cheap and Chic, flats-Adrienne Papell, earrings – Dorus Mhor, blouse – Chloe,  skirt – Marc Jacobs, cardigan – Miu Miu,  Bracelet – Eleanor Bolton

Dress – L’Autre Chose,  scarf – Terracotta New York,  pumps – Nina, yellow sweater – Antonio Marras, skirt – Opening Ceremony, sandals – Biala

What a fun capsule travel wardrobe this could be!

Janice

Well, yes, that would be a little bit nutty, and might need to be pared down a little bit. But someone might find a way to make it work!

I'd skip the other heel pair, but otherwise it would be wonderful to have such varied shoe wardrobe even when traveling. Then the yellow shift dress, grey jeans, grey sweater, yellow earrings and be suitably dressed for almost anything. (and a hotel room where it's possible to wash clothes every evening).
Shoes determine the style and casual/festive level of an outfit so it makes sense to pack lots of them!

I bought a beautiful scarf last spring in these colors and really enjoy wearing it. Yellow is not a good color for me, but as an accent in the scarf it works very nicely. Polka dots always make me smile.

I love this but would need to find just the right shade of yellow to make it work for me…
I also love combining gray and lavender, and also gray and chartruese.
I agree…..the polka dot sweater is so fun!

I LOVE yellow and wear it often. I'm a fair skinned redhead and have been wearing yellow since I was born. These combos with the grey are fabulous. Now, if I just had the money . . .

I think you already had this colour combo in the Paris anniversary selection and I said then how I like it and how I wore it waaay back in the mid-80s!! I was about to get rid of my pale yellow cardigan but then remembered I need some new grey pants, and I have some sandals in the yellow, too… ok, there's an outfit ;)

Another baker's dozen, whatever is clean line-up with fabulous colors and clothes. Now, if only I could wear yellow …

This is gorgeous! Makes me wish I could wear yellow. If I were packing for travel, I would have to cut back on shoes, but it is wonderful to see the options!
