My goodness, Janice. Your blog research seems unceasing. I speak for many when I say that this blog is an amazing gift. I would no more let a morning pass without checking the inspiration of the Vivienne Files than leave the house without brushing my teeth. Glory be to you.

I'm finally starting to make peace with the idea that I don't have to wear heels very often… if ever. Wearing flats makes me much happier and they are just as cute with the clothes I tend to wear anyway. I have been living in my black ballet flats, gray Converse low-tops and gold Jack Rogers flat sandals all summer and it's really been all I need.

This is so timely as I have purchased a short sleeved ribbed black turtleneck top for fall. If you get a chance, would you pair such a top with various pants, skirts, whatever for all? I'm interested in all the colors it might go with and what sorts of jackets, sweaters, coats, might be worn with a short sleeved black turleneck top.

Luving a couple of those very feminine black blouses. Also, the pairing of black with the tangerine/corals which doesn't look Halloweeny at all … you've also used those colors in your latest capsule for a weekend, over at Tish's "A Femme d'Un Certain Age" (a capsule, I might add, that I'm seriously looking at; GREAT combinations, so fun and pretty). Sigh…I have a gazillion black tops that need to be sorted thru and culled. Young or old, though (well, I shouldn't call myself "old" – not yet!!), black still looks best on me, no matter if I'm fat or thin. I'm pretty much trending to keep the closet in winter and summer blacks, and using your capsules for inventive ways to accessorize. It's not that I don't love color (weirdly, isn't "black" considered to be the compilation of all color, whereas white is the absence of color…thought I learned that in school a long, long time ago). I'm just re-learning how to WEAR color. Thanks for the post.

I'm happy to see the Splendid brand top up there. Splendid = made in USA. I have a navy tank and a navy/brown striped shirt from Splendid that I wear constantly.

Spendid seems to make some stuff in the USA but import some stuff as well. Browsing quickly I found these shoes, which say Made in China: http://www.splendid.com/Belmont_Loafer/pd/np/101/p/6447.html

and this jacket, which just says Imported. http://www.splendid.com/Copenhagen_Trench_Coat/pd/np/103/p/6380.html
