I haven’t been dancing…

Exhausted Maenides by Sir Lawrence Alma Tadema

But I am pretty tired…  The weary ladies above were (I believe) dancing in some Bacchanalian fete, which would probably leave me flat on my back for a week!
I love pre-Raphaelite paintings.  I know they’re considered sort of terribly plush and dramatic and just generally over the top, but I love them anyway…

Detail from The Soul of the Rose by John William Waterhouse

Love,
Janice

I love your blog. It gives me so many ideas. I was just wondering if you could do one on clothes for a hot summer in South Australia, Australia. Our tempertures in summer can sometimes reach as high as 45C for days on end. I personally love wearing denim or denim colours, pale pinks and pale blues. I have a pale complexion, dark blonde hair and blue eyes. Any ideas would be great.

So great to see the comment above as it's the same for me, BUT I have a medium-fair complexion, dark brown hair and brown eyes. I also love denim and some pale colours, but also vibrant colours (never 'mud' colours). Our weather in summer can be enervating!!

I also ADORE pre-Raphaelite paintings- the lusher the better!! The women look so real.

I save so many of your colour pairings that they go straight to the 'Vivienne's Files' folder in 'Pictures'- easy!! Such a source of inspiration!

I like pre-Rafaelite art too. My favorites are John Everett Millais' portraits of his young sisters-in-law, Sophy Gray and Alice Gray. He is a member of the PRB Pre-Rafaelite Brotherhood. He painted many lovely paintings and book illustrations.
