Bought a goldfish Eric Bompard v-neck on sale, thinking it a wild card. But it's turned into a staple- goes with greys, chocolate, navy (and denim), black, cream. In a city where it will soon by dark by before 5 pm., these tart colours like "koi" are a real lift in fall and winter, yet not too dark for spring.

I love that orange punch of colour. Fall when the leaves turn is a perfect time to wear this shade. I have a Lanvin silk scarf with some orange on it and some mittens….would adore a cashmere sweater in this colour….or those flats would do!

Not a fan of black with orange…. brown is a much better dark neutral for the orange/koi fall color that I call pumpkin.

Agree. Black and orange always reminds me of Halloween.

This color makes me think of pumpkins instead of goldfish or koi too! I also feel like it is better with navy, gray, or brown, or even dark green than black.

I certainly didn't feel like a goldfish when I wore a simple straight, kneelength skirt (La Redoute) in this colour all last winter – it turned out to be quite a staple for me. I wore it with purples, burgundy, navy, green, mustard yellow and variations, as well as black and grey and it worked out very well indeed as it fitted in with both the warmer colours (tweed coat, cognac boots) and the cooler colours (grey coat, black boots) so it got a huge amount of wear. And yet it looks as good as new for this winter :)
