I’m always intrigued by how many outfits you can pull together from a well-chosen capsule wardrobe, so after I built yesterday’s ensemble, I started pulling together outfits, just out of curiosity…Remember, these were the 24 garments with which I started:

Mind boggling to say the least. Why do we think we need 100s of clothes in our closet? Until I started reading your blog, I never occurred to me to limit, control, focus my clothing dollars in a specific direction. I so wish I would of known this forty years ago. Thanks for the refocus, you have taught this old dog some new tricks!!!!!!

With my current wardrobe, which is much more than 24 pieces, I could probably invent thousands of combinations. It numbs the mind.
I love these exercises. It really inspires me to revist and remix the pieces in my closet the next time I get a shopping urge.

As usual you have hit the proverbial nail on the head! I am in the midst of planning the summer wardrobe because most of what I have needs to move on. This collection will be my blue print. Thank you, thank you.

I find that the mid-tones- in terms of saturation work best- on me for spring and summer; too dark looks unseasonal and too pale is insipid .A blue- from turquoise or Greek blue to deep powder (but not palest baby blue), and the coral/pink/washed reds look good on nearly everyone. The exceptions can find a similar green or pure white.
Darker-skinned people look fantastic in the most vibrant limes, oranges and of course white, but since I'm a white person who never tans, I need some colour in clothes- but not too much.
