Are You Still Struggling with Color Schemes? Looking for Ideas?

First page of content, so far….

If you can wait a week or two, I’m going to have a GIGANTIC color scheme file available to buy – it will be 191 pages, and contain 1,456 different suggested color schemes. Each suggestion will include two of the neutral colors from the “Combinations of 3 Neutrals” file, plus two additional colors to act as accents.  Some of the schemes will be quite bright, some very subtle, and some almost monochromatic.  And I think you can assume that there will be some things here that you never expected!

Right now, I’m going back through all 985 posts on The Vivienne Files to make sure that I capture every color combination that I’ve used here on the blog.  I will additionally refer to my collection of color reference books, and of course dream up a stack of combinations that interest or appeal to me.

There’s an index at the beginning of the book which will link you to each page of combinations, if you click on the relevant page number, so that you don’t have to scroll up and down and up and down looking for your favorites.

This is how the index will appear.

I’m hopeful that I’ll have this available for my 1,000th post, which should be in 2 weeks…love,
Janice

I am very much looking forward to that. I hope my son can get my very messy Paypal situation from an earlier transaction straightened out by then. :))

You are a mind-reader. Just yesterday, I was struggling with picking a light neutral color. All my closet is dark navy and deep rich colors; no light colors. Since I despise white and beige, I have been at a loss to pick a LIGHT neutral.

I'm very much looking forward to it too. Like Cornelia, I've been having problems with Paypal – so fingers crossed that we are both able to straighten it out!

Have just added a trip to the office supply store for a ream of paper and printer cartridges so I'll be ready. Be still my heart! I, too, am having trouble with the light neutral. I've got navy and black and nothing else for the bottom half. Can't wait for inspiration! Thank you so much!

Janice, can you please check out the Starting from Scratch post #1 regarding pants?? I can only see the color combo wheels that were in the prior day's post. Please let me know if I am doing something incorrectly.

I found your blog Friday night, and am entranced by your palettes and style tips. I've started at the beginning of your blog, and have been reading and making notes pretty much all weekend. I learned about capsules 25 years ago, but you take the concept far beyond those books. I really need to step up my accessories. Please keep up the fabulous work you do!! It will also change how I assemble fabrics for my quilting.

You are so generous Janice and even paying for this will save us all so much time. I was going to search out my favourites this week to see what some of the other accent colours are for my brown/navy neutrals so I can shop the stash or even purchase more fabric :)

Oh Janice you are a very hard working dear AND a mind reader! I've been trying on my neutral columns—it's been a "wash out"! I look best in warm spring shades near my face, so I'm wondering which accents will go together with the neutrals on the bottoms! I've appreciated all the help with" the starting from scratch" series. So looking forward to your continued help with colors!

    That's book! I won
der if somepublishe could be persuaded…….
A propos going back through the old posts…. is there ANY chance of reverting at least in part to the previous layout you had where one could choose to see "Magazine" or whatever style? I know it was a lot of work with the formatting at the time, but if there were an easier way to do it in your new setup it would be so appreciated. I used to endlessly mine the past posts by looking at the "magazine" layout ans seeing things that attracted my attention – I am not so good with just a word index…..
