Want a Statement Color Palette? Start With Art – Icarus by Lee Krasner

The Reluctant Traveler

We think that you should go on this site visit, because the Superintendent says that you two have never met…”

WHAT kind of chocolate-frosted nonsense is this? She worked with the Superintendent for a half a day, at the end of the LAST site visit, drafting the recommendations for update and next steps. They sat at a table together for hours…

Still, if they say go, she goes. This time, she’s going to make just a bit of a bright statement with her travel capsule wardrobe, starting with some accessories for her travel outfit:

Earrings – Toolally; natural cashmere sweater – J.Crew; cashmere scarf – Kinalba; ivory cords – Lands’ End; suede jacket – Alex Mill; socks – Arturo; bag – Banana Republic; loafers – Jeffrey Campbell

Nothing inappropriate – but maybe the Superintendent will remember her this time?

Orange earrings – Bling Jewelry; hot pink cotton tunic – At Last…; scarf – Elizabetta; ombre earrings – Kendra Scott; brown silk shirt – Nokaya; print silk shirt – Boden; bracelet – Aurélie Bidermann; brown pants – The Frankie Shop; orange cotton sweater – Uniqlo; scarf – Trina Turk; crinkle skirt – Lands’ End; boots – Vivaia; flats – 27 Edit Naturalizer

If you’ve got to do business travel in January in the Northern Hemisphere, you may as well wear something bright!

They won’t have to be outdoors at all, except for back and forth to the hotel; at this stage, the site is so far along that they’re going to be reviewing toilet paper holders and doorsills…

But she has plenty of options for getting dressed; at least she has some autonomy in that!

Of course, the Superintendent may well be color-blind!

love,

Janice

p.s. Ten years ago, we accessorized our core black wardrobe with marsala accessories… What a warm and lovely look!

I’m certain I would love to see a collection of Krasner’s work. Interesting how very talented she was, how talented Frida Kahlo was compared to Diego Rivera and O’Keefe’s talent next to Alfred Stieglitz!
I adore chocolate brown as a neutral… just yesterday wore a chocolate brown cardigan, a warm pink long sleeve tee, tan cords an brown Josef Seibel loafers. The brown skirt is calling my name. I envision it with a bright top, a denim jacket and western boots! Then we grab a cashmere sweater, pretty pumps and bling jewelry for a night at the theater.

Oh, and she was long-suffering. I adore Jackson Pollock, but he was no picnic as a partner!
      hugs,

What a beautiful capsule wardrobe and it’s sure to get our heroine remembered! Pink and orange are my favorite accent combination, as well. I do think white pants in which to travel is, by far, the BOLD choice of this capsule, despite pretty brights. I am not a white pants wearer on the best of days, as they seem t be a magnet for spills. Even the dirt on the side of any vehicle loves to create filth on them. But, I love that your heroine does not share my fear—or my ineptitude!

This capsule must have been meant for me. I clicked to view at least half of the items! Yet, I’m not sure I would have put the collection together on my own. Thanks for pushing me out of my box. :)

“Chocolate frosted nonsense” just may be my new favorite expression! I just hope it doesn’t become the theme for the new year.

In my previous life, I used to make home visits as a social worker. One day, my supervisor told me that a client complained that she hadn’t met me. I said “well, who does she think the person was who sat in her living room for an hour last week?” So, I can relate. Hopefully, the bright colors will help.

This was one of my suggestions for 2025.
I love the combination of orange/pink, even though I don’t have any clothing in these colors. The brown and ivory harmonize fantastically with it.
I bought a beautiful suede jacket about 30 years ago and still wear it. (The quality is simply top)

P.S. I have taupe pants that I like to wear (instead of the light ones).
And my third scarf would be in neutral colors, in case I want to stay inconspicuous for a day. I like to wear purple, green-blue (petrol) and curry with brown.

I would swap out all the brown for black or navy (like green, brown is on my loath list) but well done with the orange and pink of which I have in bundles, spring, summer, autumn and winter!
