Overnight in the City, with a Smoky Blue Coat

April 27, 2015

Let’s hypothesize that the nearest orchestra to you is going to be playing a favorite – Beethoven’s 7th? And you know that the concert will end later than the last train, so you’re going to stay overnight. This is the very EASIEST packing – you just need something to wear that evening, and a clean blouse or top to wear home the next afternoon.

So pull on some jeans, and some nice accessories, and hop on the train! You can actually walk from the train station to your hotel, and since your bag is so small, you can stop for lunch, or do some shopping…

white tee – Uniqlo, belt – Prada, jeans – Current/Elliott, sunglasses – Oliver Peoples, cardigan – Allude, watch – Nixon, loafers – Church’s, coat – Dsquared2, gem print scarf – Radical Chic, leather tote – Chloe

This is all you have to pack – some toiletries, and some nightwear, and you’re set!

sleeveless dress – Bevza, print tee shirt – Uniqlo, clutch bag – Miller and Jeeves, triangle labradorite earrings – Eilisain Jewelry, ring – Lana Jewelry, slingbacks – Gianvito Rossi

Hang up your dress when you get to the hotel to change (although it has a bit of texture, so it won’t show wrinkles much at all!), and make sure your tee shirt is neatly folded somewhere. This is how the rest of your brief break will look:

I know there are lots of people here in the Chicago area who take advantage of empty downtown hotels, and excellent restaurants, to take a quick “mini-vacance” over the weekend – do you?

love,
Janice

I'm new to your lovely blog and would love to know about it's origins and the original Vivienne. Looking forward to more "back to the roots".
