Not the Best Start to the New Year

January 2, 2024

I have flu – you’re not going to get to see the second trio of wardrobes until Friday…

But I found something beautiful for you – Morning Glories by Suzuki Kiitsu. This is a detail from a room screen that you can see here…

love,

Janice

p.s. Have you had your flu vaccination? I’ve been jabbed, but have succumbed anyway…

Oh Janice! I hope you feel better.
I did have a flu shot, but then myself and my daughter caught the flu in December. It was horrible – I haven’t been sick like that in at least 10 years.
I look forward to seeing the remaining wardrobes as soon as you are up to it but do take the time to feel better…..no rush!

So sorry to hear you’re sick. The flu vaccine is always a guess based on previous years. Rest, hot tea, and comfy clothes are best.
I like the colors in the screen very much.

Try this link https://www.metmuseum.org/perspectives/articles/2021/5/japan-rinpa-school-screens you can see this screen in context with the history of these art works. Would make a lovely wardrobe using the gold for the accessories (jewellery, belts, shoes, hair clips and bands).
    Hope you’re feeling better soon!

Hope you feel better soon. Elderflower cordial with ginger and also Echinacea are good at reducing symptoms. Don’t worry about us. We have plenty of Archives to look at. I might even start decluttering or sorting by capsules…..

Yes, best wishes for a speeding recovery. Beth T, I actually love elderflower cordial mixed w/ I think it’s 7-up? Not sure. The place my friends and I go to for lunch once a month has it as a non-alcoholic drink. Order it every time. The ginger sounds like a nice addition. Also love ginger. Anyway – great minds – like some of the others above, I pulled up the decluttering articles yesterday, but work was busy and I didn’t get around to them. I think it would help tons if I could make up my mind and limit my colors. And I still have a horrible time w/green, having olive and true green and sage green and seemingly unable to part with any of them. Have never had a flue shot, and don’t even remember the last time I had the flu. Considering I work in a middle school I guess that makes me extremely fortunate. Have a good day ladies, Janice feel better soon, and look forward to next post

I also love green: dark, sage, blue-green, olive, turquoise, petrol,… and I couldn’t part with any of them.
This week I’ll be photographing my clothing capsules again,
      I’m also recovering from Covid.

      And Janice, get well soon.

Sheila, I have a nephew~in-law who said the same thing. Never had the flu shot, never get the flu…..until this year. He was sick for 3 weeks and lost 15 pounds and missed all the Christmas festivities. Janice will likely recover much quicker and her symptoms will be less severe having gotten vaccinated. That’s what we all hope and pray for anyway!

We had our flu shots after having chad it a couple of times in the past. We then came down with the Noravirus stomach flu at our house the week between Christmas and New Year. It has been miserable and made us much sicker than a regular stomach bug. Flu is awful, feel better, and do get as much rest as possible.

So sorry you’re suffering with the flu, Janice. My husband and I both got flu, COVID and RSV shots in October. He got sick with a virus before Christmas and I got it before New Year’s Eve. We both had coughing fits. Not fun. The doctor he saw said there are a hundred different viruses going around this year! Stay hydrated. I agree that the archives are a wealth of information!

So sorry, Janice! Hope you feel better soon. I don’t ever get the flu shot because I feel it’s a crap shoot as to whether they get the strain right. I have stayed up to date on Covid shots though. Plus I’m still masking in public. So far, I’ve stayed healthy.

I’m sorry to say that you probably had the flu because of the jab. I had a flu shot 30 years ago and it made me so sick, I swore “never again”. I’ve rarely had the flu since, and treating myself with natural remedies as soon as I get the first signs. Hope you get better soon.

Feel Better soon. Change your pillow case. Change your toothbrush. (until you are better keep “sterilizing” the one you are using. I boil water and then immediately dunk mine.) Don’t kiss Hubby. I swear by Elderberry and Vitamin C. I don’t get the flu but have had bronchitis many times.

May we all be well and happy. The wonderful information about this Japanese screen states that it was painted during an era of relative peace. May we live in such an era. “I wear robes with well-worn hems” is part of a beautiful quote from the article as well. I pulled out a tote of Japanese art and decor to entertain my soul while I recover from a double whammy of shingles and a cold. MAY WE ALL BE WELL AND HAPPY. Blessings to Janice for this special forum.
