Our heroine is pleased with her wardrobe, and MORE pleased with her bank balance! She’s trying to give up impulse clothes buying – there are many more important things in the world that she wants – like plane tickets.
Her wardrobe inspiration is this painting – of course it has letters in it! She is an expert in the combination of multiple type faces.
Her color palette includes three neutrals and two lovely, vivid accents:
At the end of March, her very disciplined wardrobe included 16 garments, and dozens of outfit options:
Our heroine gave a lot of thought to her April purchases. She knew that it would be really sensible to add a summer “column” to her wardrobe, thus she immediately chose the black short-sleeve top and crop pants. (she’s quite tempted; Caslon carries a number of linen garments…)
The beige sweater is a natural – it can be worn most of the year, with any color. The texture of the cables really appeals to her!
And she thought about prints. She thinks all DAY about prints, if you consider lettering and fonts to be prints. (which she does!) And she felt that it would be logical and flattering to her signature style if she added some linear, graphic or letter-like prints to her wardrobe. Stripes fit in with her favorite painting, as well as with pages of letters…
Green & ivory double gauze shirt – Alex Mill; cotton bandana – Echo; black linen top – Caslon; black linen crop pants – Caslon; bag – Moda Luxe; ivory sweater – J.Crew; sandals – Vionic
Her wardrobe template is filling up, albeit not quite as nearly as she might prefer. A black blazer and pants or skirt (or both!) seems like the perfect addition, if she can ever find them!
Her complete wardrobe would be delightful to pack for a very long trip; yes, it would require quite a substantial suitcase, but one could get dressed for all but the most formal occasions with this assortment:
Our heroine has meticulously planned how she would wear her new clothes – they have to slot right into her wardrobe in a big way, or she’s NOT buying…
After pulling all of my summer clothes out of my cedar chest, I could only WISH that my wardrobe was this tidy!
love,
Janice

p.s. Ten years ago, we started with a stunning photograph of Macaws Over River, Peru by Frans Lanting, and assembled a very khaki and bright wardrobe.

Really, really like the look back post. It struck a chord! I like the style of khaki pants, but I haven’t worn them in quite some time. Maybe I should change that! Hesitant to be the old lady in khaki pants… And the brights! Rather rebellious, I think. Could be just what the doctor ordered.
I can’t wait to see what this wardrobe will include in the summer! I really like the direction that it is taking.
This is my favorite color scheme of the bunch. It just feels happy. As for the look back, I can’t do khaki but give me all the brights lol. :)
My summer prep for this wardrobe is turquoise, aqua green, light blue and light grey
Love this color combo! Always love receiving (and saving) your posts! Great inspiration!
Such a pretty wardrobe for the right woman. I’m not sure why it’s not striking a more personal chord with me. However, I think the colors are just delicious, the pieces you have picked are utterly perfect (I adore Boden) and it makes for a cohesive dressing plan. I am positive that this will strike the right woman as the holy grail for a dressing plan.
As for me? I can’t lure myself away from either the Ruffled or Shellduck plans…
