Green Always Feels Fresh: Start With Art – In Northern Mists by Erik Werenskiold

January 30, 2026

One last visit with our traveling heroine, and the print that she uses to inspire her wardrobe:

Her color palette focused on the pastel colors in the sky, although she could easily include both black, white (stars!) and a soft grey in this palette:

They’re not at all sure that the Northern Lights are still a possibility, but they do know that there are flowers starting to sprout, and leaves just beginning to show… (use your imaginations, all of us still in single-degree cold!)

So her accent color is green, and her theme is leaves!

Maple leaf earrings – Isla Silver; cardigan – Old Navy; scarf – Tory Burch; chambray shirt – L.L.Bean; jeans – Levi’s; weekender bag – minnow; sneakers – Remonte

As a reminder, this is the travel capsule wardrobe template that she’s using to choose her six garments for each trip:

She knows full well that spring can be cold, so she’s still bringing her workhorse denim jacket with her:

tee shirt – Old Navy; grape leaf earrings – Roy Nilson; denim jacket – Levi’s; corduroy pants – L.L.Bean; handbag – Lefrik; loafers – Marc Fisher LTD

And she found the prettiest scarf!

Winter pear striped shirt – Lands’ End; jade earrings- Zandra Lorena Sajbin; scarf – Artifact.; denim skirt – Lands’ End; green hedge crewneck sweater – Caslon; ballet flats – J.Jill

As always – and as all wise travelers will do – she sets out everything she’s bringing with her, just to be certain that nothing missing, and that nothing looks out of place:

Her packing choices fit perfectly into her Six-Pack template:

Our heroine also quickly runs through – in her mind – a few other ways to wear what she’s packing. Just in case something goes haywire – an unexpected tear in an embarrassing place on a pair of pants, or red wine pitched down the front of a pastel tee shirt…

And for our own amusement and edification, let’s look at ALL of this heroine’s clothing from these three trips:

And let’s visit all of her delicious accessories too!

I wonder how things are going with our heroine and her new “friend”?

love,
Janice

p.s. Ten years ago, we started the Six Things, 12 Months posts! We started with six Hermes scarves, back in the days when they didn’t cost BOTH an arm and a leg…

Zielona wersja to moja ulubiona (ten subtelny ziołowy odcień!), a całość podnosi na duchu.

This is just lovely. I can see this as someone’s year ’round wardrobe, if they live in a more temperate climate. While I live on the Maine coast now, I am originally from Santa Barbara, CA, where the vibe is pretty casual, the weather is rarely too hot or too cold and the colors are soft. This is a wardrobe that just screams out relaxed, west coast to me.

I love the idea of a wardrobe centered around denim. This gives me ideas to recreate this, but with a darker denim and brighter colors…

I would go for a lighter bluer green but the second outfit is my favourite. I could make wardrobe room for the striped shirt, the lovely Artifact scarf, and the jade earrings.

Seeing the whole wardrobe reflects how I would pack: one neutral and 2/3 accents.

Love this green. It is so calming for the eyes. This whole wardrobe feels like an exhale. And like a treat for those of us who wished for a softer version of your “Ruffled Autumn Clouds” by Emile Nolde 🩵🩷💛💚

I love the entire wardrobe. The Artifact scarf is a great find, as are the jade earrings. My closet revolves around denim and while these accent colors aren’t quite right for me personally, I can see how my accent colors would work in the template.

When it comes to scarves, this heroine’s got game!
This post is a great reminder that a pair of ivory cords can be most useful.

This palette, although too light for my coloring, is just what my winter-weary eyes needed this week. It feels like the 189th day of January, with no end in sight. I know I need a better attitude, but I am a lover of moderate temps, and living in the US Midwest can be challenging!

Thank you, Janice, for all you do for us.

Oh yes, I like the wardrobe with the green color best. 🤩

I love denim blue with pastels. It’s a core part of my wardrobe. And if I could wear yellow at all it would be this shade. Maybe as little touches in a pattern. Hmmm…
Thank you for another lively wardrobe Janice!

The new L.L. Bean catalogue shows several tops and a pair of low top hikers in faded sage. This a favorite color for me. A coupleof yeqars ago I had jens in this color and all my pastel tops worked well with them. Unfortunately, I got a big spot on them and faded the spot while trying to clean them.

I realize that Janice deserves a good retirement away from her work, just like the rest of us, but I so look forward to these posts and the comments that are inspired! What will I do with her retirement!
