The last day of the last painting! Unless, of course, I revisit these and analyze them a bit…
She had enough clothes – more than enough, as do we all. But she was really hankering after some more brown. There’s something about wearing brown – especially with black – that’s different from anything else she had ever worn…
cashmere cardigan – Vir Vita; denim shirtdress – L.L.Bean; striped shirt – Lands’ End; pendant – Open Edit; loafers – Steve Madden; bag – Arezzo; corduroy pants – L.L.Bean
Her wardrobe is all set, for now…
Our heroine would still really love to have a brown and black scarf, and you can easily see how useful it would be for her. But she has to find the right one!
Our heroine had a lengthy internal conversation around the purchase of brown shoes and a brown bag. Normally, she would keep her leather accessories to black, beige, or a metallic. But brown leather… it’s so tempting!
Our heroine now has a whole BUNCH of new outfits:
And yes, I could certainly wear this wardrobe! I actually own and wear a brown cotton turtleneck, as well as a brown crewneck sweater…
love,
Janice

p.s. Ten years ago, we added accent colors to core outfits of teal. Just in case you thought that teal was ONLY an accent color, we’ve made it a neutral!

This one has totally grown on me. Well done Janice!
Beautiful ending to a beautiful wardrobe. Thank you Janice.
A pretty wardrobe for a pretty end to this series. I have to admit, I look forward to your yearly paintings and I can’t wait to see what 2026 brings us!
While this year’s grouping really didn’t work for my bright colored and/or primary colors self, it is always inspiring to see how you’re able to pull from beautiful works of art…and teaching me artists I didn’t know to boot.
Thank you, Janice!
Janice, you always put together such beautiful wardrobes, but this year you’ve surpassed yourself. As someone who doesn’t wear black, I love seeing the other neutrals you’ve chosen. Especially wardrobes #3 and #5. I could see myself using the teals in those two wardrobes as a starting point to mix the two — with #3 for summer and #5 for winter,
Thank you.
Nothing is loading.
New photos not loading. Only photos from yesterday and older. MIght be related to overnight iPhone update??
Today’s post loaded okay on my end, but the one from ten years ago only loaded some of the images.
Hi Janice, Has anything changed on the Vivienne Files website?
The pages are loading very slowly or not at all, and some images aren’t displaying.
I’m glad you’ve added a few more pieces in cognac. 🤩
I really like all the capsules this year. Thanks for your effort. 🧡
The enigmatic but unarguable “server problems.” I can rest assured that the people working on this are the best, and that it will be fixed soon…
hugs,
Janice
This remains my favorite wardrobe. Everything added today just seems so pretty and fun to wear. I was having the brown shoes/brown purse debate with myself recently. Even though I like the idea, when I went and tried on brown shoes I just didn’t like the effect.
Thanks for the look back giving me ideas for petrol/blue teal with taupe and purple.
My original build with Janice was “Tree of Life” scarf. I do love this painting! I have added some soft pink accents to my closet. Thank you for a wonderful year of art and wardrobe tutoring ;)
This color scheme has turned out to be my favorite of them all! Thank you for this entire series!
Dear Janice,
Please do an analysis of these wardrobes. They are very insightful and you always notice, and pick up on details I miss.
Thank you!
Looking at this gorgeous wardrobe and thinking about scarves – I really wish that the inspirational painting was actually available as a scarf, it would (of course) be a perfect accessory! Were I the heroine, it would be tempting to attempt one of those paint on silk workshops and try for an interpretation…
